Youth Justice Liaison and Diversion Practitioner
1 week ago
Are you passionate about the care and wellbeing of children and young people with vulnerabilities who come into contact with the criminal justice system? Would you like to become part of an expanding team working in Harrow area?
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic and innovative individual to join the CNWL Liaison and Diversion Service to provide specialist screening and assessment of children and young people in the Harrow Youth Offending Service.
Over the past two years CNWL’s Criminal Justice Liaison and Diversion Service has grown and developed steadily with new and exciting services in police custody and courts. We have formed a partnership with other providers to implement the NHSE Operating Model for an all age and all vulnerabilities model of delivery.
The ethos and aim of the service is to proactively intervene at the earliest opportunity in the Criminal Justice process, so that those in greatest need of support receive the appropriate care and treatment.
The Harrow Youth Justice Liaison and Diversion (YJLD) post holder will work 9 - 5 Monday to Friday and be supported by the wider generic service.
The primary function of the role is to screen all young people who have been arrested and who present with an extensive range of mental health, emotional and social need. The post holder will complete on-going specialist assessments as required and identify and refer on to appropriate interventions to meet assessed need. The screening and assessment will inform the charging decision thus diverting some young people from the criminal justice system or ensuring that their needs are met within it.
The post holder will be required to understand the varying relationships and roles across Harrow Borough, to liaise with Youth Courts around young people's vulnerabilities and facilitate the Youth Justice system in best supporting these needs.
