**Overview of the job**
The Acquisitive Crime project was initiated in June 2020 to deliver on Ministers’ ambitions to impose GPS tagging on offenders of acquisitive offences released on licence. Legislation has been laid that imposes EM on licence for adult offenders serving standard determinate sentences of 12 months or more for specified offences of burglary, robbery and theft. Offenders are supervised by probation via the Integrated Offender Management (IOM) scheme. This innovative project uses GPS trail monitoring, collecting location data that can be shared with the police to support investigation, detection and prosecution of further offences.
The MoJ Electronic Monitoring Hub provides a ‘crime mapping’ service for the participating police forces. Crime mapping consists of taking recorded crime data from the police and assessing (using an online mapping tool) whether any of the tagged acquisitive offenders were in the vicinity of the specified crimes. Where matches are identified and qualified, the Hub provide the police with the relevant information, which will assist them in investigating crime.
There are no line management responsibilities. This role is HQ based with some home working.
This is a non operational post but will require some weekend working.
**Summary**
The job holder will carry out crime mapping administrative duties to the Hub in a supervisory capacity, maintaining performance and administrative systems within specified timescales for the Hub.
**Responsibilities, Activities and Duties**
The job holder will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities and duties:
- Reviewing and qualifying potential crime matches using an online mapping tool (i.e. whether a tagged service user was in the vicinity of a recorded crime) and following a defined work instruction.
- Referring any matches to the Hub Manager where professional judgement beyond the work instruction is required to decide whether to qualify a match.
- Accurate and timely data entry into the case management system and other databases.
- Chasing of outstanding reports and information from police forces.
- Handling and processing data in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act and Information Security Policies and Procedures.
- Responsible for the opening and distributing of correspondence.
- General administrative duties at the request of managers.
- Responsible for drafting and sending routine reports.
The duties/ responsibilities listed above describe the post as it is at present and is not intended to be exhaustive. The job holder is expected to accept reasonable alterations and additional tasks of a similar level that may be necessary. Significant adjustments may require re-examination under the Job Evaluation Scheme and shall be discussed in the first instance with the job holder.
