“Our resident had been known to the professional support services for much of her adult life. She has a history of mental health issues, substance misuse, self-harm, suicidal ideation, suicide attempts and homelessness with periods of rough sleeping. “On the first full day at our crisis house she said she had slept a full night for the first time in years. She takes a real pride in her flat which she calls her ‘home’.”

We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for a Support Worker to join our friendly and welcoming team working at our Service Herbert House in Salisbury You will work as part of a small team in a home from home environment where no two days will be the same.

Herbert House is a 15 bed registered care home. Providing a safe space for people with moderate to severe mental health difficulties. There is a focus on supporting people to develop/ regain the life skills needed to live more independently.

How will you make a difference?

Enabling individuals to self-manage their personal and domestic resources and to undertake activities of daily living.

To jointly develop, review, monitor and adapt person centred support and safety plans.

To monitor and report to senior staff on the effectiveness of support delivery.

Contribute to the protection of individuals from the risk of abuse and harm to self and others who access our services.

Encourage those living with mental illness to recognise, understand and manage factors that affect their mental wellbeing and physical health.

Could this be you?

You will have strong communication skills and a understanding of mental illness. But aside from that, being a Support Worker isn’t all about qualifications, if you have a passion for making a difference then we can provide you will all the training and support that you need. You can also take us up on our offer to support you through your NVQ in Health and Social Care qualification

Your role will be a Bank contract working as and when required by the service across our rota basis including weekends. You will receive an annual salary of £9.91 to £10.88 as well as additional allowances such as £50 for Sleep ins unsocial hours of 86p per hour and bank holiday rate of time and a half.
