Building Better Opportunities is a project which is co-financed by the European Social Fund and the National Lottery Community fund. They are set up to support local people who are currently not in employment to gain training or employment by offering one to one support from a dedicated adviser.
**Who are we looking for?**
TCHC is looking for an experienced careers adviser/ tutor who has passion for supporting individuals who are currently without any employment and help them into education, training, or employment to become job ready.
We are looking to recruit
**Careers Adviser / Tutor (BBO Project GCGP)**
**Location**:Hybrid-Ipswich & Remote
Covering the Suffolk Area
**Working Hours**:
8.30 am to 5.00 pm OR 9:00am to 5:30pm 1-hour lunch
Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week
**What are we looking for?**
**The BBO Programme aims to enrol people who have the right to live and work in the UK and are currently without any employment and help them into education, training, or employment**
**Qualifications**:
- Level 4 Diploma in Advice and Guidance - Essential
- PTLLS, Certificate of Education or PGCE qualifications - Essential
- Level 6 Diploma in Careers Guidance and Development - Desirable
**Main Tasks & Responsibilities**
**To recruit participants onto the project**
- To arrange and deliver a schedule of support including Information, Advice and Guidance sessions, Employability Skills training, in line with local labour market opportunities
- To prepare individuals to become ‘job ready’ through effective Employability Skills with a quality CV, excellent presentation and interviewing skills.
- To assist partners and TCHC with the completion of BBO Participant entry paperwork, participant queries and/or eligibility requirements
- To support the Administration team with partnership queries
- To promote the BBO Opportunity and the work of TCHC at every given opportunity
- To bring together local agencies, creating a total person-centered approach for our customers, supporting them with employability skills and health and wellbeing
**The post holder will work solely on this ESF and National Lottery Community Fund, Building Better Opportunities project.**
Key Objectives would be to:
- Promote the BBO projects to reach individuals who would benefit from it by e.g. attending Job Fairs, community and networking events
- Working with individuals, to assess eligibility for the project; completing the required paperwork and eligibility criteria with individuals; developing Individual Action Plans as appropriate to their needs with regards to future employment, training and education and supporting them to achieve these goals through regular reviews and support
- Researching and providing information, advice and guidance on topics such as careers, education, labour market information, getting into employment, equal opportunities and referring individuals to specialist agencies as appropriate to their needs
- Delivering group sessions on Employability Skills, such as CV writing, Interview Techniques and Job searching skills etc. to enhance an individual’s prospects of sustained employment as required
- Promote the BBO Opportunity project to local stakeholders e.g. Job Centre Plus and other community organisations to raise the profile of the BBO projects and its legacy and to generate referrals
- Build links with other local organisations / stakeholders to benefit the partnership and their participants and to be a potential referral source
- Source appropriate provision, volunteering opportunities, work experience, training opportunities and job opportunities and update user friendly Database to share regularly to the partnership
- Keeping up to date with labour market information, legislation, and professional and academic developments by visiting employers, training providers and training events run by educational and professional bodies
- To be fully conversant with current NLCF guidance and paperwork
- To attend the Delivery Partners Group that brings together support staff to share best practice and resolve challenges
- Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding (including Prevent) the welfare of all learners for whom you have responsibility
