- We are looking for an Invoicing Team Leader to join our Finance Operations Team, based in Manchester.Our Finance Operations team is currently undergoing significant change as we look to deliver a more efficient and effective service to our internal and external clients. We are looking for someone who has experienced 'what good looks like' and is able to bring knowledge of best practices to improve some outdated and complex processes, and guide the development of systems to support the function.-
You will be working in a finance team led by an award-winning CFO and an award-winning Transformation Leader, and you will have the opportunity to learn from the best.- This is a unique opportunity to join an environment where you will be given the chance to innovate and demonstrate your ability to deliver a step-change in quality.Main Duties:
- Day to day leadership responsibilities for the Invoicing team
- Take ownership of queries raised and see through to resolution
- Management of Invoicing Queries mailbox, ensuring team SLAs are met
- Oversee complex invoicing e.g. bordereaux and composite invoicing
- Standardise, simplify and automate complex billing processes, and look for opportunities to simplify the user experience for lawyers
- Strong working knowledge across all clients so you are able to support your team with Invoicing activity when required
- Monitor the team's performance on a regular basis and address any performance issues
- Ownership of specific reporting tasks for the business and within Finance
- Monitor process and individual performance against agreed key performance indicators
- Proactively drive the improvement of 'upstream' processes to reduce invoice error rates
- Support a number of transformation initiatives to increase the speed and accuracy of the team's work
- Design new billing processes for new departments using 'zero-based' principles
- Deliver and promote a world class customer service culture
- Management and Leadership:
- To agree and monitor objectives for direct reports taking appropriate action to ensure their successful achievement ensuring these objectives are informed by and support the wider finance and business strategy
- Embed and maintain a high performance culture ensuring that objective setting cascades to all team members and that the team have a clear understanding of how they contribute to the Finance and business strategy
- To develop professional networks across the business to understand the developing requirements of senior business leaders, trends, and developments within the wider business
- To allocate roles and responsibilities across the team, ensuring that the utilisation of skills and expertise is maximised using best practice workforce management principles
- To performance manage direct reports through the use of DWF performance management frameworks to drive performance and address / resolve underperformance in a positive manner

- Knowledge of best practice billing processes
- Track record of delivering measurable process improvements
- Data-driven
- Solutions-oriented mind-set, innovative and able to come up 'outside the box' solutions
- Detail oriented approach with significant emphasis on achieving a high quality of work
- A confident user of Microsoft Excel to intermediate level
- In addition, the following skills and experiences are beneficial, but not essential:
- Previous law firm experience
- Previous experience in a high volume/ shared services type environment
- Knowledge of 3E and e-billing solutions
- Knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules and VAT
