**Job Title: Sport and Education Practitioner**

**Salary: £22,308- £23,810 per annum**

**Hours of work**:You will be expected to work a minimum of 37.5 hours per week, excluding lunch breaks. The role may include evening and weekend work as and when required.

**2. Overall purpose of the job**:We are looking for a passionate person to deliver high-quality sport and physical education lessons that link to the National Curriculum with Premier League Primary Stars outcomes and values within the primary school age group of Lancashire. Whilst delivering for Blackburn Rovers Community Trust, you will support individuals to develop their abilities to their potential and enjoy physical activity - both in curriculum time and as extra-curricular opportunities, which will encourage them to sustain activity levels. You will also promote positive healthy lifestyle choices and deliver educational messages through the medium of sport. The postholder will have a responsibility to support teachers to help grow their confidence and enhance the quality and of PE in schools, sustainably. The postholder will deliver against KPI’s from the Premier League Primary Stars programme and the EFL Trust Joy of Moving initiatives. The role requires an individual with significant experience of working in a school setting and a good knowledge of the type of young people targeted.

**3. Duties and Responsibilities**:To be responsible for the following:

- Planning and delivering lessons/sessions that cover a range of skills and techniques.
- Contributing to the excellence of teaching and learning and the quality assurance within the curriculum area.
- Planning and delivering of school holiday programmes that cover a range of sports and activities.
- Ensuring quality assurance procedures are followed and implemented for all schools participating.
- Promoting equal opportunities in service delivery and employment.
- Working alongside local schools and the delivery team to prepare a range of events and competitions.
- Supporting occasional weekend delivery of activities, e.g. matchday activities.
- Overseeing, reporting and resolving any feedback and/or issues with schools to the line manager.
- Monitoring and reporting on activities using the data management system and providing relevant management information to project coordinators.
- Contributing to meeting departmental targets and service standards and outcomes.
- Attending training/CPD to develop relevant knowledge and skills.
- Proactively identifying new opportunities to add to the provisions offered by BRCT.
- Linking, where possible, school sessions to local community activities and clubs creating pathways for further development.
- Working off site in various school and community environments.
- Maintaining awareness of, and acting in accordance with, the provisions of the Health & Safety at Work Act.
- Acting in accordance with BRCT’s corporate objectives and policies and seeking to promote them.
- Fulfilling other duties as may be reasonably required from time to time.

**Knowledge and Experience**

**Essential**
- Recent experience of working in an environment at primary education level.
- Ability to plan and deliver a variety of consistently high-quality sessions delivering a wide range of different styles, skills and techniques.
- Ability to educate and inspire children to take part in physical activities in and out of the school settings.
- Experience working alongside other teaching/support staff.
- Teaching/coaching experience at a variety of age groups and abilities.
- Knowledge of how to positively develop young people in a coaching/ classroom setting.
- Safeguarding best practices and experience of acting on this knowledge to protect young people.
