Carlisle is in the northern part of the county and is where the Strengthening Families Team -East are based.

The Strengthening Families service works alongside families to identify health needs, offer support, implement a plan of care, signpost to other services and deliver the pre-school Healthy Child Programme.

The service is provided to families with children aged 0-19yrs who fit into the following categories - Child protection plan, child looked after, and young people open to the Youth Offending Service.

The Strengthening Families team work with some of the most vulnerable families in the community. Their main priorities are to deliver the healthy child programme and to complete health assessments to identify any unmet health needs and then to support the family to address them.

Skills and qualities
- the ability to complete health assessments including Review Health Assessments for Children Looked After
- safeguarding skills and knowledge
- ability to identify and manage health needs
- good communication skills
- the ability to work independently and liaise with health professionals, families and other agencies including the Local Authority Children's Services
- hardworking, reliable with good time management skills

**Disclosure and Barring Service**:
On 28 November 2020, the new Disclosure and Barring Service filtering rules will come into effect.

**Standard Check**: £18 + Administration cost of £3.85 = £21.85. Deducted at £6.85 from 1st month salary and £5 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

**Enhanced Check**: £38 + administration cost of £3.90 = £41.90. Deducted at £11.90 from 1st month salary and £10 deducted from salary over following 3 months.
