Established 30 years ago, Turning Tides is a multifunctional, complex needs homelessness charity. Our mission is to end local homelessness.

We have gone from supporting a handful of people in the coastal town of Worthing to providing a range of services to over 1,700 people in Worthing, Adur, Littlehampton, Horsham and Mid Sussex. We have over 10,000 supporters, 300 volunteers and 160 staff members to date.

We’re looking to add to our mental health provision by recruiting a Mental Health Worker who will coordinate and enhance mental health support to homeless people in Horsham and Mid Sussex. The postholder will play a pivotal role in developing and sustaining links with statutory and voluntary/community mental health services; and will provide client-led support and interventions to address need; reduce harm and facilitate journeys away from homelessness.

ABOUT YOU
- In addition to having experience of supporting people with their mental health in a statutory, voluntary or homelessness setting, you will have;
- A strong knowledge of mental health issues, including personality disorders, Schizophrenia and dual diagnosis.
- Understanding of the recovery principles in mental health
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to engage with clients experiencing a wide range of mental health problems
- Ability to produce well written information including qualitative and quantitative methodologies
- An understanding of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and CPA Process
- Proven ability to develop effective partnerships with statutory and voluntary sector providers with the ability to advocate effectively at all levels.
