We are looking for a talented Database Administrator based out of Manchester to develop and implement systems data architecture that will meet our business needs at a time of unprecedented growth.

**About the role**

Reporting into the Group Head of Technology, you will work within an Agile environment with cross-functional Development Teams that believe in customer focus, continuous delivery, and continuous improvement, as well as stakeholders from Operations, Analytics, IT, and Security. You will develop an understanding of data and information needs, identify solutions, and improve the quality of service while providing support through the logical and physical design of databases and database infrastructure.

How will you do this?
- Perform on-premise and Cloud database administration, support, documentation, and maintenance
- Assist with the data layer migration to Cloud
- Complete audits of the databases and provide recommendations on improvements from a performance and security perspective
- Support the business in its goals towards becoming data-driven via BI tooling and the implementation of the data warehousing solution
- Drive automation in the data layer across the organization
Ultimately, you will be responsible for maintaining the integrity and performance of the company databases and guarantee that data is stored securely and efficiently throughout its lifespan.

At a Technical Level, you will have:

- Deep hands-on experience designing, planning, delivering, maintaining, and documenting reliable and scalable data infrastructure and data products in complex IT environments; using Postgres, MySQL/Maria DB, and Redis
- Strong experience with databases and BI solutions, including backup/recovery, database security
- Scripting experience, e.g., Stored Procedures, Python, Bash
- Demonstrable experience of tuning, troubleshooting, and on-call product support
- Experience with Apache Kafka is desirable
