Sitting within our Defence Airframes business line at our Portsmouth manufacturing plant you’ll do just that. Established in 1990, Portsmouth is one of our newer locations with a workforce of circa 200 employees. The site is a leading technology provider for the aerospace, marine and military markets supplying an extensive range of specialist fuel tanks and flotation systems, as well as engineering expertise and support for fixed and rotary wing aircrafts, land vehicles, missiles, UAVs, torpedoes and marine vessels. Our customer base includes Airbus, BAE Systems, Bell, Boeing, General Automics, Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, Jaguar Land Rover, Rolls Royce, Sikorsky, Saab, MOD.
Job Summary
As a Logistics Team Leader within our Stores Department you’ll be reporting into the Logistics Manager. Within the Supply Chain Team you’ll provide leadership to a team of 10 to 15 colleagues and you’ll be responsible for the internal logistics of goods to our departments. You’ll also be responsible for:

- Managing the workload of the area (receiving, distributing, internal movements, warehouse)
- Being the interface between supply chain and production at shop floor level
- Operating and aligning with Supply Chain Management global standards including Inventory Cycle Counting, Warehouse and Storage and Inbound Inventory Standard
- Creating and sustaining a culture that is aligned to the GKN Aerospace 'A Great Place To Work'
- Appraising and managing individuals' performance whilst supporting and coaching to close performance gaps
- Creating on-going learning and personal development opportunities to your team
- Exemplifying a safety-first mind set
- Leading and developing your team to understand the context, mechanics and the delivery of PSQDCC targets to meet customer and stakeholder commitments
- Driving the disciplined and rigorous deployment of the Lean Operating Model (LOM)
- Be actively involved in problem solving and the management system, approach to solve problems with the ambition that 95% of issues can be solved within the zone itself
- Ensuring Value Stream Future state design is executed across your assigned area
- Cooperating with other Team Leaders to ensure the best performance outcomes for the entire area
- Holding functional support staff accountable for adhering to the Global standards and enabling your zone team to meet its targets

**Essential**:

- As a minimum demonstrable experience gained within a manufacturing or production environment
- Have worked in an environment where you have had to demonstrate rigorous adherence to standardised work, working to and maintaining standards
- Be able to illustrate where you have worked to and achieved performance related targets
- An understanding of FIFO
- Experience of Microsoft Office to an intermediate level
- Able to work cross functionally within a business
- Experience of leading, engaging, training and developing direct reports
- An effective communicator and an influential team member
- A passion for working within the Aerospace industry

**Desirable**:

- Demonstrable supply chain experience either within aerospace or pharmaceutical environment
- Demonstrable experience gained within a supply chain, logistics environment leading a medium size team (10 to 20 colleagues)
- Experience of Warehouse & Logistics processes including; Internal Flows and Warehousing, Inventory Management, Customs and transport regulations
- Working knowledge of batch control
- Experience of SAP
- Working to a Lean Operating Model
