Role - Software Engineering Manager

Location - Warwick

Duration - 6 months

Description

As a Software Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the product development process from ideation to launch. You will manage your team of software engineers and work closely with product managers, UI/UX designers, and key stakeholders across theorganization to deliver the best digital experiences for our users.

Key Accountabilities
- Coordinates the product team to deliver in sprint product work.
- Works with the product manager to ensure there is sufficient work available for team members.
- Actively works on resolution of issues preventing team members progressing their work.
- Lead the product team to deliver product work.
- Works with wider product and design team to ensure work is aligned with the organization technical roadmap
- Ensures that team members have sufficient space for individual development and learning
- Responsible for defining work process - refining agile process to work best for the team.
- Facilitates retrospectives and team health checks
- Facilitates discussions with external teams and other Software Engineering Managers to coordinate technical direction and resources
- A good understanding of other technology frameworks used company wide.
- Responsible for team output, in terms of code and architectural quality.
- Responsible for team objectives.
- Works with the wider product team and stakeholders to resolve impediments, escalating where necessary
- Works actively to improve team performance, helping drive the team to a high performing state
- Can effectively delegate work so as to stay focussed on own responsibilities
- Aligns team resources to the product roadmap
- Leading the review and management of team health trends
- Participates in the creation of an organization wide technical roadmap
- Responsible for team members' learning and development plans.
- Responsible for team members' objectives and performance management.
- Active participant in the wider software engineering community events and meetings
- Delivers constructive feedback clearly and appropriately.
- Regularly checks in on goals and Individual Development Plans (IDPs) ensuring their direct reports are actively focusing on these secondary objectives.
- Represents the team in discussions regarding changes to the organizational roadmap.

Qualifications & Experience
- A strong product focussed mentality.
- Extensive experience developing and managing resilient, highly available software products
- A quality driven approach to code authoring and testing, producing idiomatic and maintainable code
- Led and developed small to medium software engineering teams
- A t-shaped engineer
- Self-motivated, and values team success ahead of own success.
- Diplomatic and emotionally intelligent, has an ability to listen to and entertain other points of view
- Strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
- Extensive experience using a wide variety of cloud architectures and alternatives
- Strong system design experience, including design patterns and best practices
