Production Operative

**BEDMAX** **SHAVINGS**is a small family run company, the first in the UK to make made-to-measure, high-quality shavings especially for horse bedding. The company was founded, and is still based near Belford, in Northumberland, with additional dedicated manufacturing plants in Nottinghamshire and Hampshire.

Bedmax has been awarded both HRH The Queen’s and Prince of Wales' Royal Warrants and is supplier to many other prestigious customers both in the UK and internationally. We are proud to be implementing the Operational Excellence programme throughout the company.

As well as our shavings products we produce **HOTMAX,**a fuel log, produced from compacted bark and wood dust generated during the production of Bedmax.

We are currently recruiting for a Production Operative for our manufacturing plant near Belford, 14 miles from Berwick-upon-Tweed and 17 miles from Alnwick.

**Job Summary**

The job entails carrying out a variety of factory skills safely and efficiently, using complex equipment to ensure production is maintained to the highest level. The role of Production Operative is wide ranging and offers a great deal of variety.

Training is encouraged and will be provided on an ongoing basis.

**Main Responsibilities**
- Carry out daily checks on all parts of the factory.
- Operate large 360 degree loading equipment safely and efficiently.
- Operate fork lift safely and efficiently.
- Operate telescopic loading equipment safely and efficiently.
- Learn to operate the Bedmax bagging and drying equipment safely and efficiently.
- Fault find basic problems to ensure the factory keeps running.
- Ensure the plant and factory is kept in a clean and safe state.
- Ensure all quality criteria are met.
- Carry out any preventative maintenance and daily checks on all parts of the factory. **Skills Required**:

- Forklift experince essential

- You must have a good standard of written and spoken English, be numerate and highly responsible in your attitude
- Willing to use your initiative, undergo new training and work hard in support of a very busy team.

**Salary**
- **£13.30**per hour increasing with experience and upon successful completion of probationary period. This is inclusive of shift premium which is worked on a rotation system between morning and late shifts. Overtime is available and is paid at time and a half.

**Please note that due to the location of the plant your own transport is essential.**
