Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for a Group Quality Coordinator to join our Team based in Prescot. Reporting to the Group Quality Manager, the Group Quality Coordinator supports the continuous improvement and delivery of the AHK Quality approach in Group Laboratory operations focussed on metals and minerals analysis. Functionally responsible for the maintenance of the Quality Management System at each AHK Laboratory. Ensuring the day-to-day quality requirements of the Laboratory are met within the requirements of AHK management, associated quality standards, and accreditation requirements. Working closely with each Laboratory team, Group Technical and Quality teams to ensure that all obligations to the AHK Group, AHK clients, and accreditation commitments are met.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assisting with the management and successful maintenance of ISO 17025 and 9001 accreditations as required at each AHK laboratory.
- Assisting with the management and control of the standardised AHK QMS, relevant accreditation publications, ISO standards, quality manual and its supporting documentation.
- Ensuring the audit teams are sufficiently motivated, skilled, and appropriately trained to meet the needs of AHK, its clients, and its accreditation commitments.
- Supporting the internal audit team and Group Audit Programme with the scheduling of audits, the distribution and close-out of improvement actions and non-conformances in relation to Laboratory focused audits.
- Arranging investigations relating to instances of non-conforming test work, complaints, preventive action and improvements, ensuring sufficient documented records are maintained.
- Ensuring that work throughput is followed in accordance with documented methods and procedures. It is the post holder’s responsibility to inform AHK Senior Management of any failure in compliance with the company operating practices and policies.
- Assist in the coordination of a standardised Laboratory Document Control System, ensuring sufficient documented records are maintained.
- Ensuring the continued validation and verification of in use and new methods in accordance with company procedures/policies and meet the requirements of and support the Laboratory’s ISO 17025 accreditation or other relevant standards/requirements.
- Responsible for the control and administration of internal Quality Control materials in use in the laboratory. From their sample production and stock maintenance; their supply and correct use; chart routine monitoring and coordinating replacement stocks for continued QC effectiveness.
- Assisting when required in internal proficiency testing programmes, as directed by the Quality Manager/Group Quality Manager/Laboratory Management team.
- Support the Laboratory management teams in the execution of their duties. Advising the local Quality Manager/Laboratory Manager of Group initiatives and coordinating the central distribution of communications.
- Support in collating all KPI information for the AHK laboratories to demonstrate overall performance and weaknesses.
- Taking part in regular quality focused meetings with relevant personnel to ensure that operational issues are discussed and rectified as soon as possible and for keeping all relevant personnel informed of serious and/or developing quality issues.
- Undertaking other duties of an appropriate nature in consultation with the Group Quality Manager.
To be successful at Alfred H Knight you will need to display the following:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE
**Required Work Experience**
- Proven experience of several years (minimum 3 years) in a quality position, preferably in a commercial laboratory.
- Audit trained to be compliant with ISO 17025.
- Experience in supporting QMS requirements in relation to ISO 17025 accreditation and
- ISO 9001 certification.
- Desirable but not essential; experience of the metals and minerals industries,
- including basic chemistry knowledge and laboratory skills.
**Required Qualifications**
- A good general education (ideally inc. Maths, English, and Science/Chemistry).
- laboratory/quality experience.
- Desirable but not essential to be trained in ISO 9001 and/or ISO 17025 internal audits.
