We have started the exciting transition from an HR to a People Team. This role is continuing this journey to broaden the scope of our engagement within the business: this is a crucial time where we can really make a difference in building the culture and the people business we want to be. We have an ambitious and challenging 5-year People Plan to deliver and this is a challenging role, no two days will be the same so drive and energy is a must, as well as the determination to succeed and ability to roll up your sleeves and get things done.
Reporting to the People Business Partner with be People Business Advisor and People Administrator.
Main Responsibilities
- Partner with line managers to translate business needs to People solutions
- Proactively drive improvements to business performance by providing expertise on organisation structure and change projects.
- Partner with leaders to grow diverse leadership, talent, and technical capability within the business
- Provide high quality guidance and support to line managers dealing with complex cases and commercially manage risk of outcomes
- Use data and analytical skills to produce monthly reports; identifying trends, performance against KPI’s and proposals for improvements
- Work with managers to ensure resource plans are aligned with peak planning requirements
- Lead and manage compliance and consistency in relation to absence related matters, managing short and long-time absence cases effectively and reducing absence levels in operational areas
- Ensure all attrition data is analysed and reviewed monthly with initiatives implemented to ensure that absence reduction targets are achieved
- Manage consultation exercises in relation to organisational change, alongside local managers. Produce appropriate letters and preference forms. Keep accurate records and audit trails.
- Act as a coach and mentor within People Team to build knowledge and experience
- With other People Business Partners provide quarterly review of people related policies in line with best practice and legislative changes for Risk and Governance Committee
- Work with Talent Acquisition Manager, Talent & Development Manager and People Engagement Manager to support improvement initiatives aligned to People Plan
- Research and prepare proposals to support annual pay increases, providing fair and justified proposals, within budget dependant on market conditions to Head of People and Culture
- Manage on-site temporary agency supplier relationship
**Ideally you would have**:
- Degree qualified and CIPD Level 7 qualified
- Experience of working in a warehouse, retail, or logistics business
- Extensive Generalist HR experience
- An understanding of BCorporation framework
- MS Packages - Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Comprehensive use of DayForce or other HR System
Skills and abilities
- Ability to multitask, prioritise and take initiative
- Have analytical skills and demonstrate the ability to extract, analyse and interpret data and organise the information to effectively communicate to business leaders and their teams
- Experienced stakeholder management /co-ordination
- A keen eye for detail and ability to sequence tasks to deliver an outcome
Location
This role is predominantly based in Coventry but will be required to support across both warehouses and transport hubs sites on wider initiatives. The role therefore has a high degree of autonomy and will be regarded as a source of high quality and authoritative advice and guidance to leaders in the units they have responsibility for.
Hours 37.5 per week, hybrid working model, 3 days a week required in office. Part time considered.

For those books we cannot sell, we ensure they are recycled and turned into products such as newspaper, cardboard packaging and tissue products.
