**Tornagrain New Town**
We are looking for an energetic Gardener to join our existing gardener, to undertake all grounds-related activities and ensure that Tornagrain is maintained to an excellent standard, providing a professional impression to all residents and visitors.
The applicant will take pride in Tornagrain, keeping grounds free from litter, debris, weeds, plant diseases and harmful insects and maintaining equipment and supplies and order as needed.
To be successful in this role you need to ensure grounds are pleasant - both visually and operatively - at all times, while maintaining equipment.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
**The Key Purposes of the role will be to maintain Tornagrain to a high standard and the tasks include**:
- Cutting and maintaining hedges and the pruning and care of the community orchards
- Maintenance of herbaceous borders, including bulb planting
- Litter-picking and leaf clearing
- Maintaining compost heaps
- Maintaining tools and equipment and basic maintenance of machinery
- Maintaining good relationships with residents and visitors
- Observing all Health and Safety Risk Assessments, COSHH, regulatory and security measures
- A willingness to undertake necessary training
**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE**
The above outlines the key skills the post-holder will need to possess and exercise. In addition, either knowledge of or experience in the following is required:
**Essential**
- At least 2 years relevant practical experience in general gardening and groundswork
- Basic demonstrable plant knowledge;
- Basic knowledge of tool and powered machinery use and maintenance;
- Working practical knowledge of Health and Safety processes and procedures and the ability to work effectively within these;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; confident in interacting and dealing with a wide range of people and being an ambassador for Tornagrain;
- Full Clean Driving Licence
**Desirable**
- Horticultural knowledge and/or working on community garden projects
- Ability to undertake basic machinery maintenance and servicing
- First Aid Certificate
