**Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday**
**About the role**
You will be responsible for technical leadership across the Microsoft platform along with associated technologies, services and tooling. Reporting into the Development Director, you will act as a technical authority to drive and develop best practices, standards and technical awareness within the broader engineering team.
Accountable for creation of solution design artefacts to support project and delivery teams, ensuring that designs align to architectural and security principals and enable project success. You may be actively involved in technical delivery, with a hands-on role including guiding and supporting the team in the development of work.
When required you will lead in technical innovation projects, working with internal teams and delivery partners as prescribed ensuring that best practices and standards are maintained, with work delivered according to project scope, budget and cost.
Expectation that you will lead quality review process within the team, developing guidance and principals to ensure a continuous improvement culture and support selection and implementation of tooling.
**Key accountabilities**
- Working with Business Solutions counterparts as required to produce systems designs and specifications and validate designs produced by external suppliers.
- Technically lead development of a range of solutions, ensuring that they meet stated business requirements, acceptance criteria, or agreed “definition of done” and support wider Business Solutions strategic objectives.
- Continue to keep abreast of industry best practices and make recommendations as to their adoption
- Investigation of new tooling and technology, developing technical appraisal and adoption roadmap when required
- Creation and maintenance of coding standards, including internal audit of compliance and development of processes to ensure alignment
- Creation of guilds within specified area to promote technology, tooling and best practices
- Coaching and mentoring of staff in the discipline of design, architecture, technology platforms and tooling to raise the skillset and capability of the team
- Assist Development Director and System Development Managers in developing a high performance culture, including recruitment, retention and development of staff
- Deputise for the Development Director and System Development Manager and project a positive image of Business Solutions within the wider organisation.
**Essential knowledge, skills and experience**
- Extensive background in software design and engineering, test automation and continuous integration
- Strong understanding of enterprise integration practices, SOLID principles and design patterns
- Experience of Microsoft technology stack including.NET Core,.NET Framework, ASP.NET MVC with C#
- Experience of delivering solutions on Azure, including configuration, security, and management of cloud services
- Experience of technical authoring, developing and embedding coding standards, patterns and practices
- Strong communicator with the ability to converse and translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience of mentoring and coaching team members
**Desirable knowledge, skills and experience**
- Agile product development experience
- Kubernetes either AKS or ACA
- Microsoft Power platform, notably Power Apps and Power Automate
- System integration experience both cloud and on premises: buses, brokers, patterns, REST, GRPC, etc.
