**Salary Between £22, 709 and £24, 592 depending on experience and qualifications.**
**Key Responsibilities**:
- To support the Home Manager in the management and development of a high quality residential resource for young people within the Orbis service, undertaking delegated supervisory management responsibilities.
- To provide leadership to less experienced staff to ensure the development of best resident care practice and optimal outcomes for resident children and young adults.
- To provide therapeutic and personal care to a group of young people aged between 8 - 18 living in one of the residential homes within the Orbis’ service.
General Care Practice:
- Promote the rights of resident children and young adults to be treated with dignity and respect in every aspect of their lives
- Respect the confidences of resident children and young people, and of those in our care, except where to do so would result in harm to a child or young person, damage to the organisation or the commission of a criminal offence.
- Establish supportive relationships with resident children/young people and encourage the development of stable relationships between resident children/young adults and other staff, students and their families and friends and within the group of residents.
- Promote the emotional health and self-esteem of resident children and young people and support them through changes in living circumstances and personal relationships.
- Support resident children and young people in making their own choices and decisions to the maximum of their capability, and ensure that the needs and wishes of resident students are fully considered in any decision relating to them.
- Ensure the protection of resident children and young people from significant harm, by exercising vigilance, observing changes in student’s behaviour or appearance, and complying fully with the Child Protection & Vulnerable Adults policy.
Daily Living and Student’s Plans:
- Support children/young people entering the college for the first time, moving between residential units or leaving their current home, enabling them to prepare for the change, and to become familiar with the new environment and responding to any distress they may experience
- Assist resident children/young people with self-care skills including eating, drinking, washing, bathing, using the toilet or managing incontinence, dressing and undressing, mobility and transport, getting up and going to bed, and once trained, administration of medication.
- Participate in the assessment, development, implementation and review of placement & support plans for resident students.
- As a key worker for named children/young people, taking responsibility for the development, implementation, monitoring and review of placement & daily records plans.
- In partnership with medical services and therapeutic staff, participate in the promotion of the health, welfare, emotional and social development of resident students.
- In partnership with the ‘Education Faculties’ promote the educational attainment of resident children and young people by contributing to the development of the student’s Structured Learning Plan and supporting the student in working towards agreed educational/learning targets throughout the persons’ stay.
- In partnership with the ‘Education Faculties’, support resident children and young people in accessing appropriate leisure activities on site and off site, including supporting students on holidays away from the home.
- In partnership with the Education Faculties’ and the Speech and Language Therapist promote the communication skills of resident students, adhering to the guidelines contained in the students Social Dictionaries.
- Promote resident children/young adult’s participation in, enjoyment and understanding of their religion, culture and first language
- Participate in the assessment, development, implementation and review of programmes aimed at enabling resident children and young adults to manage their challenging behaviour, ensuring full compliance with their individual behaviour support plans.
- Support key workers in writing reviews and supporting with health and medical programmes aimed at enabling resident young people to manage their challenging behaviour.
- Ensure that profiles, key-working files and care files are updated and accurate and maintained.
- Support the staff team in their role of key-worker and facilitate training as required.
