Job id: 102585. Salary: £38,232 - £42,999 per annum inclusive of London Weighting Allowance.
Posted: 06 January 2025. Closing date: 19 January 2025.
Business unit: Faculty of Arts & Humanities. Department: Arts & Humanities Faculty Office.
Location: Strand Campus. Category: Professional & Support Services.
About Us
King’s Faculty of Arts & Humanities is distinctive in representing exceptional strength in both the longer established disciplines (such as Philosophy, Classics, Theology, English, History, Languages, and Music) and world-leading quality in more recently established fields (such as Digital Humanities, Film Studies, Interdisciplinary Humanities, and Culture, Media and Creative Industries).
The faculty’s Impact & Knowledge Exchange team, established in 2022, supports development of a culture that shapes and sustains the public impact of the faculty’s research to deliver positive societal change across London, the UK and internationally. It does so through varied activities including: managing an Arts & Humanities Research Council Impact Acceleration Account; supporting the faculty’s plans for the Research Excellence Framework 2029 (REF2029); providing advice, guidance, and training for academics undertaking, or wishing to undertake, engagement & impact activities; and supporting a diverse range of impactful events.
About The Role
Based in the Faculty of Arts & Humanities’ Impact & Knowledge Exchange team, this new post will manage events and engagement activities (in-person, hybrid and online) and associated processes across the faculty. In doing so, the chief purpose of the role is to provide high quality events management support and processes to academics across the faculty, whether the events are targeted at external or internal audiences or a mixture of both.
Responsible to the faculty’s Impact & Knowledge Exchange Manager and providing line management to the Events & Engagement Coordinator, you will directly manage ca. 40 events per year, ensuring a smooth and professional experience for the academics supported. You will also provide expert advice and guidance on all aspects of good events practice, including effective evaluation, to academics.
As the faculty’s lead expert in events, you will proactively troubleshoot challenges and provide recommendations for solutions to issues faced. You will also make important contributions to national assessment exercises - for example, ensuring rigorous events for the REF2029 and leading on annual data returns for the Higher Education Business & Community Interaction Survey.
Finally, you will manage the REACH (Research & Engagement in the Arts, Culture & Humanities) Space, a social learning space for formal activities and informal networking that, in the 2023/2024 academic year, hosted over 250 activities.
This is a full-time post, and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
