Strategic Housing
An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a permanent, part-time Strategic Housing and Commissioning Officer (21 hours per week) in the Neighbourhoods directorate at Cornwall Council, as the existing incumbent moves to pastures new.
As the post holder, you will work in a small, dynamic team designing, procuring and commissioning a range of contracts and important services, managing the computerised contract 'on-boarding', working across teams and directorates and with outside stakeholders. You will also ensure that all contracts are robustly managed and performing in accordance with contractual obligations, delivering value for money, and ensure that programmes and projects are administratively supported and delivering on their aims and objectives, in accordance with Project Management frameworks.
It is an exciting time to join Cornwall Council. You will work with us to achieve greater efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of services and contribute to the Council’s corporate goal to reduce our carbon footprint in the successful delivery of the corporate priorities.
We are looking for a motivated and driven individual, who can work both collaboratively and under their own initiative to support the team. You should have excellent communication and organisational skills, with an ability to meet deadlines, and work to a high degree of accuracy with limited supervision. You will be a competent IT user and an understanding of corporate mainframe systems would be an advantage when processing financial and invoicing duties.
The role will involve working across the housing service and include data analysis and performance monitoring of service providers. You will accurately manage the input, output and presentation of data, plan and contribute to the effective contracting and procurement processes used by the team. The ability to work from home will be an advantage, but equally on occasions, you will be expected to travel and work across the county.
Fairness and inclusion are at the heart of our vision for Cornwall. In order to best serve our communities, we are striving to achieve a diverse workforce that is inclusive of all backgrounds, cultures and identities; e.g. race, disability, sex, gender, age, religion and sexual orientation. We are an equal opportunities and Disability Confident employer, and we will assess applicants on their merits.
Cornwall Council is committed to safeguarding and following safer recruitment principles to help make sure our staff and volunteers are suitable to work with children, young people and adults at risk. It’s a vital part of creating a safe and positive environment and making a commitment to keeping all service users safe from harm.
Whilst the location/work-base for this role has been specified our evolving ways of working means that the role may require you to also work remotely (e.g. from home/other locations). We will discuss this with you during the recruitment process.
More information about working for Cornwall Council is available here.
We are happy to talk about flexible working options.
