Jackson Hogg are excited to be recruiting a Technical Author for a rapidly growing engineering company on a permanent basis based in Sunderland.

My client is looking to recruit a dynamic technical author with experience of working with live customer focused projects. You will be responsible for technical documentation including manuals with the support of the Mechanical & Electrical engineer. Youwill be expected to produce instructions for build, maintenance and IOMs etc. for internal and external customers.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**
- Take a lead role ensuring all manuals are complete, up to date, compliant with legislative requirements, conform with Company requirements and consistent in corporate presentation.
- Assist with the preparation of documentation required for production projects in accordance with each project’s published schedule.
- Take responsibility for the structure and management of the library of manuals.
- Responsible for attending planning meetings and briefings to collect and edit complex information to support the preparation of documents.
- Support Engineering teams & Document controllers by identifying and driving improvements across the facilities relating to Engineering Document control

**Other Requirements**
- Must have an appropriate HNC/HND or equivalent Engineering qualification
- An interest in the mobility industry would also be an advantage as these are key markets for the organisation.
- Take reasonable care of the health and safety of themselves and of others who may be affected by what they do or do not do.
- Cooperate with the employer on health and safety matters.
- Not misuse any equipment that is provided for safety purposes.
- Awareness of working in a hazardous environment advantageous.
- Follow instructions from the employer on health and safety matters and attend relevant health and safety training.
- Good written English skills including technical and procedural language typical in Compliance and Maintenance Engineering teams.
- You will have a structured approach to work and be very organised
- Strong experience of owning an end to end documentation creation process.
- Demonstrable knowledge of operational & maintenance requirements.
- Have held a similar role within an engineering company with both electrical and mechanical experience.
- Report hazards and defects observed in the workplace.
- Comply with the company Code of Ethics and standards.

**Salary - £28,000 to £40,000 DOE
