A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our clients Children Residential Service. Our client is currently re-profiling their existing homes, and moving to a model of smaller children’s homes for 2 to 3 children; to allow us to provide a therapeutic careexperience for our children, and to facilitate abetter matching of placements.
The service is offered to children up to and including the age of 18 with complex needs. This may include SEMH needs, learning difficulties, and/or risky or challenging behaviour. We want to hear from you if you share our passion for working with childrenwho have not had the easiest start in life. Our aspirations for children are high in all aspects of their lives, and we aim to provide a homely environment where children feel safe, loved, and nurtured. Using a trauma informed approach to enable us to betterunderstand the needs of our children, and to provide individual care packages.
We are looking for new team members who are experienced in working with young people and share our Bristol Values of Respect, Collaboration, Curiosity, Ownership and Dedication.
**Hours**
37 hours per week
You will have the flexibility to work a varied shift pattern including sleep-in duties, weekend working, and working on Bank Holidays. You will be based in a particular children's home in the City and may be required at times to work across other homes,to meet service needs.
£23,023 - £24,920 plus a package of up to £5,000 per annum including shift enhancements and sleep-in allowances (pro rata).
**Purpose of the job**
Together with the management team be responsible for shaping and delivering the residential home’s Statement of Purpose. To provide high quality care services that supports the needs of the children by being an advocate for their well-being and to providestrong and nurturing relationships to children.
**Your duties will include**:
- Ensure positive professional relationships are maintained with children, families and other professionals at all times and to maintain young people’s confidentiality at all time
- Support children through their journey in care into independence.
- Work with managers to identify needs and access relevant learning and development opportunities and share that learning with others. Take responsibility to attend mandatory courses which are required to fulfil the role.
- Support young people in their daily lives by:
- Assisting them to develop & maintain a high standard of personal hygiene & appearance
- Supporting young people to make appropriate choices regarding their nutritional needs.
- Administering medication in accordance with their needs and taking full account of the Medication Policy and Procedures.
- Accompanying them to the dentist, doctor and all other appointments as appropriate.
- Reporting to managers any concerns regarding the young people’s welfare including health and safety issues in the home.
**Additional Information**
- Post holders must be willing and able to work flexibility to a varied shift pattern including sleep-in duties, weekend/Bank Holiday working and to work across different locations within Bristol. Also willing and able to escort and attend holidays with childrenwhich will include overnight stays of up to one week.
- Outcomes and accountabilities may be amended to take account of changing trends in social care, relevant legislation and together with Employment Law.
**Requirement - ESSENTIAL**
- One of the qualifications below, or wilingness to complete NVQ 3 when you start in post:
NVQ level 3 in Caring for Children & Young People or
NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care (Children & Young People) or
Level 3 Diploma for Children & Young People’s Workforce or equivalent.
And
Evidence of recent Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Experience of working with children in a paid or voluntary capacity including working with and understanding children who exhibit challenging behaviours.
