**Job Description**:
The Character Groom Artist works in a build team to provide expert Groom discipline knowledge and solutions that contribute to a Premium Hero Build.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide expert Groom knowledge to a Build Team
- Efficiently and effectively contribute to the creation of Premium Hero Build
- Address feedback from the Character Designer
- Share domain knowledge with other members of the Character Lab
- Contribute to discussion and testing of new software solutions
- Work to deadlines and inform production and their Build Team on progress
- Present work to peers in the Character Lab in the form of dailies and project presentations
- Creatively contribute to design discussions on Premium Hero Builds
- Work with the software and technology groups and advise new tools, workflow, software and equipment
- Up-to-date knowledge of VFX tools and emerging technologies

Qualifications**
Technical Knowledge/Skills**:

- Expert working knowledge of 3D/2D software packages and pipelines
- Expert knowledge of the Groom domain within Houdini and Maya
- Expert in complex, design-led asset creation
- General understanding of linux/unix-based operating systems
- Basic UV skills. Knowledge of how fur tags work in furtility. Knowledge of how furUVs are laid out, and things to be aware of, such as overlapping uvs, furUVs sets naming
- In depth knowledge of hair grooming solutions, to achieve the fine details required for lodA+ assets which are seen very close on screen.
- Creating the groom, rendering, presenting to supervisors, releasing and publishing.
- Work with software development teams to clearly communicate bugs and feature requests
**Experience**:
Experience in Film VFX production demonstrating a strong focus on complex character work
**Attributes**:

- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Groom artists work closely with the modelling, texturing and lookdev artists and therefore must have some knowledge of the practices of each discipline
- Be a great mentor and be able to share knowledge effectively
- Capability to learn and adapt quickly
- Good ability to work under pressure
- Ability to mentor and provide feedback to crew members
- Excellent team building skills
- Excellent creative flair
