Northampton is a regional Head and Neck Cancer centre. The post will be one of nine ophthalmic consultants, each with their own specialist fields (see below), all of whom are also involved in the provision of a general ophthalmic service to the south of Northamptonshire as well as some of the nearby areas.

It is essential that the post-holder should hold the MRCP (UK) or an equivalent qualification and be on the GMC specialist register or will obtain a relevant CCT/CESR(CP) within 6 months of interview.
