Full Job Description
You are a passionate team leader that can be responsible for the day-to-day management of a team of 8 officers, monitoring their performance whist ensuring that the organisation meets its obligations and service standards in accordance with all relevant legislation,codes of practice and professional guidance. You are a confident and caring leader who is committed to mentoring, challenging and developing your staff.
What you'll be doing:
As a Finance Team Leader, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a team of Senior Finance and Finance Officers, and an Apprentice, monitoring team and individual performance.
You will support the Financial Services Manager and the Head of Service in co-ordinating and producing the Medium Term Financial Strategy, annual budgets, financial statements and the annual report, as well as accounting for investments, other financial reporting,and ensuring the completion of statutory and other Government returns, and supporting annual benchmarking exercises.
You will lead by example in line with the values and behaviours of the organisation and will coach, develop and mentor the individuals you line manage, including allocation of work, day-to-day supervision and general staff wellbeing.
What you'll be able to offer:
You will hold an AAT or other accountancy qualification and will be educated to Level 4 qualification standard; or have significant vocational experience showing development in a series of progressively more demanding relevant work roles.
You'll be able to establish your credibility with your detailed knowledge of the accountancy and financial frameworks within which LGPS and / or Local Government operate. You'll also bring your knowledge of principles, practices, policies and procedures relatingto business planning and financial and organisational management.
Key to your success in this role will be your people skills and demonstrable aptitude for leading a team. You will have proven written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners/professionals.You will be able to work on your own initiative, with a solution focused approach and well-developed problem-solving skills as well as an ability to manage a range of projects through to completion.
You will have good knowledge of computerised financial systems, and Microsoft Excel in terms of functionality and capability.
