**The Role**

BCHA is seeking a skilled Health & Safety (37 hours per week) professional to be part of the team ensuring that BCHA is protected from risk in relation to Health and Safety and the compliance with care standards.

**PERSON REQUIREMENTS**
- To assist in the review and development of policies and procedures to support the organisation in the implementation of health and safety and care standards.
- To monitor the implementation of health safety and care policies providing advice ad undertaking inspections and audits to an agreed programme.
- To project manage the implementation of audit and inspection recommendations ensuring that progress is reported though the use of action plans and task are completed to target expectations.
- To develop and deliver health and safety and care compliance training to staff aimed at exceeding regulatory and procedural compliance.
- To support the CEO and the Board to measure health and safety performance throughout the organisation by collating, recording, processing and presenting date to ensure compliance.
- To provide competent advise on risk assessments ensuring that appropriate control measure are in place. Co-ordinate specialist external advise when required to ensure recommendations are reviewed and implemented.
- Collate and monitor accident and incident reports and statistics and investigate issues when necessary ensuring that follow up actions are agreed and carried out.
- To work co-operatively in a small team to ensure that the business targets are met: being flexible and responsive to request for support from across the business.
- Achieving set objectives.
- All Health and Safety checks and audits are completed and recorded in a timely manner
- Contributing to the overall performance of the team.
- Training is provided about health and safety and the management of risk to all staff.
- Corrective action and action plans developed as a result of audits are completed in a timely manner.
- Report and analysis of health and safety and are performance is reported regularly, accurately and in a timely manner.
- Risk assessments are in place where needed.
- Compliance audits and safety checks are completed to schedule.

**Skills**
- MS Word, Excel, Outlook and using a tablet (E).
- Written business communications (E).
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) (E).
- Strong record keeping skills (E)..
**Knowledge/Experience**
- A knowledge of Health and safety and care legislation policies and procedures and have experience of working in this area (E).
- Knowledge of residential care services (E).
- Knowledge of other external agencies & statutory bodies that regulate our services(E).

Experience, knowledge or of carrying out Health and Safety assessments (E).

**Special Requirements**: The role holder will need to travel to BCHA properties will therefore need to be able to travel effectively between properties.
