The post holder will provide leadership for their team of staff and lead strategy and policy development implementing and supporting related service improvements as required. The post holder will provide strategic, and specialist advice and guidance on all health safety and security management matters for all Trust staff. The post holder will ensure that the Trust minimises risk by meeting its statutory obligations and achieves high safety and security standards.

The post holder is a team leader for a group of specialists providing advice and support to the Trust.

The post holder will sit on all relevant committees as a reporting officer and strategic as well as management adviser providing reports and papers as set out in the terms of reference.

The post holder will develop effective working relationships with Enforcement Agencies, NHS Protect, NHSE/I, Legal Protection Unit, Police Constabularies, Security Management Specialists in other organisations, Heads of Emergency Planning, NHS Trusts and other external agencies and organisations.

The post holder will advise and support directors deputy directors, sector managers, local managers, clinicians and all staff across the Trust.

**Communication**: All staff should be able to communicate effectively with people who use services, colleagues and stakeholders, to ensure that the care, treatment and support of people who use services is not compromised

The Safety team is a growing regional team. A mix of office and home working is available to all team members.

1. Health and Safety
- To bring together the cross-directorate functions of Health & Safety to ensure seamless and collaborative working across different directorates.
- To lead the implementation of health and safety activities, advising on appropriate health and safety strategies and actions.
- To be up to date and have knowledge on new and impending health, safety and fire legislation, developments, modern safety processes/techniques and any other related mandatory NHS instructions.
- To lead the strategic development of systems and processes in the area of health and safety for the (the Trust) and to support the delivery of the Trust’s strategic vision, corporate objectives, statutory requirements, and other key deliverables
- To lead the development of all Trust health & safety strategies and policies ensuring they are updated in line with legislation, best practice and modern safety processes and techniques

Security Management
- To bring together the cross-directorate function of Security to ensure seamless and collaborative working across different directorates
- Ensure that security related issues are an integral part of the Trust’s management processes
