Senior Scientific Support Assistant
Europe's top cancer charity, Cancer Research UK, has combined with the University of Cambridge to fund the world class Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute, situated on the Addenbrooke's Biomedical Campus in Cambridge.
We are currently looking to recruit a Senior Scientific Support Assistant (SSSA) within the Laboratory Management Team. The role holder will work closely with the Ground Floor Laboratory Manager to provide a high standard of support to the research laboratories and core facilities at the Cambridge Institute, managing the laboratory consumable stocks required by the research labs. You will be responsible for managing the supply, delivery and maintenance of the specialist compressed gas cylinders, providing a daily delivery service throughout the Institute. The role involves the filling of specialist equipment with Liquid Nitrogen and Liquid Helium as well as line managing the Scientific Support Assistant (SSA) who will deputise for the SSSA as necessary. The SSSA will be responsible for the collection of hazardous chemicals from the laboratories in the Institute and liaising with waste contractors for their safe disposal.
The role holder will work in several different areas within the Institute so flexibility and a willingness to work where required at short notice is essential. Manual handling will be a key part of this role.
