**Partnership Communications and Engagement Officer - Role Profile**
**Job Purpose**
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated communication and engagement professional to head up a range of activities for the Love Windermere Partnership. This will include:
- Developing a communications and engagement strategy
- Leading on the delivery of the agreed strategy, driving and co-ordinating input from across the partnership
- Leading on development and delivery of a suite of communications outputs including newsletters, press and PR opportunities, web, and social content.
- Leading on development and delivery of a range of engagement outputs including a stakeholder list, community drop in events, e-bulletins, and PR materials.
- You will be responsible for ensuring cohesive and collaborative communication and engagement across the partnership
This is a three day per week, fixed-term contract for two-years, hosted by the Lake-District
Foundation. You will report into the Love Windermere Programme Manager and work closely with communication and engagement experts within the Partnership organisations.
We would consider an approach from an agency or secondée who could deliver the work within the funding envelope.
**Background**
Love Windermere brings together key partners to develop an evidence-based plan of action to tackle the challenges facing water quality in the lake. The partnership aims to achieve this through multiple work streams looking at land management, science and data, mains and non-mains drainage, sustainable finance, and community engagement.
Stakeholders include local authorities & councillors, landowners, farmers, boat owners, campaigners, septic tank owners, local businesses including the restaurant, hospitality and tourism sectors and residents.
**Key aspects of the role**
You will lead on planning and delivery of communication and engagement for the Love
Windermere partnership. You will work closely with partners to deliver high quality communications outputs and engage with the community to achieve buy in to the aims of
Love Windermere. You will dispel some of the myths about the lake and foster support for lake recovery amongst the varied stakeholder networks and further afield. Specific work packages include, but are not limited to:
- Working with partners, you will lead on the co-creation of a communications and engagement strategy and plan for Love Windermere
- Establishment of the Love Windermere Brand that represents the views of the core partners
- Lead on the delivery of the communications plan and manage all outputs such as press, PR opportunities, web and social content, newsletters, and more technical project outputs of the programme
- Producing a suite of communications products such as press releases, articles, media interviews and web and social content
- Build a clear picture of stakeholders impacted by or interested in Windermere and the topics that are relevant to them.
- Identify and lead on the use of a variety of engagement methods and opportunities, with a range of stakeholders.
- Updating the Love Windermere website with relevant and engaging content
- Building a network of media contacts within the partnership and in external organisations
- Working closely with the Love Windermere work streams to source content for story ideas and engagement

**Essential skills, knowledge, and experience**
To support this critical work, we are seeking a driven, organised, and self-reliant person, experienced in communication and engagement. You will use your expertise and knowledge to oversee planning and delivery of communication and engagement outputs for the programme. You will also seek out opportunities for new and innovative ways to communicate about Love Windermere to a range of audiences through a mix of media and approaches.
To succeed in this exciting role, you will need a successful track record in communication and engagement with a range of audiences. You will be a well organised individual able to deliver projects to time and on budget. You will be self-motivated and capable of working on your own and alongside partners with excellent verbal and written communication skills. You will feel passionately about the environment and connecting people to take action. Social media & website skills are important and experienced in working within partnerships is a bonus. You would be joining a friendly and dynamic community of partners, committed to creating a thriving lake and surrounding catchment at Windermere.
