Engineering Designer

Our offshore services client based in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear seeks an enthusiastic Engineering Designer within the Wireline & Flowline (WLF) Engineering Team Gateshead, you will provide engineering support to the manufacturing and aftermarket operationsin refining product design in the production of valves, flowline equipment and other specialty products. You will complete models and detailed drawings for the purpose of quoting, designing, and satisfying customer requirements and aftermarket activities actingas the expert for technical draughting matters on specific projects.
*The ideal background demonstrates knowledge of specific design codes API 6A and ASME VIII.
Duties & Responsibilities
*Produce and check drawings, models, Bills of Materials, and design
*Prepare engineering documents (such as drawings, Bills of Materials, technical illustrations, manuals, reports and calculations) and basic layouts for designs, or parts of design, ensuring they are completed within the required timescales
*Responsible for ensuring all deliverables are technically in accordance with client requirements
*Ensure timely and thorough review of client specifications and communication of findings
*Attend design review meetings ensuring commercial awareness
*To answer product line technical queries from within NOV and external sources
*Ensure internal checking procedures are adhered to
*Responsible for ensuring that document numbering and revision control procedure is conformed to
*Submit Technical Requisition documents for subcontracted or sub-vended engineering scope
*Preparation of Technical Requisitions for any 3rd party design review or verification
*Report any design changes which may have a cost or schedule impact to the relevant project personnel
*Ensure that client comments are reviewed and responded to in a technically acceptable fashion

*Ensure that Engineering Queries are investigated, resolved, and documented in a technically acceptable fashion and undertake root cause analysis
*Technical mentoring of other department members where appropriate

Qualifications:
*Tertiary education in an Engineering discipline
**Experience**:
*Working knowledge of design projects within multi-disciplinary teams
Working knowledge within a manufacturing environment and within the Energy Industry, specifically with Surface Test Trees, Gate Valves, Mud Valves, Plug Valves, Hammer Unions, Flowline equipment
Skills, training, or special knowledge
*Computer literacy (including good command of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and AutoDesk Suite, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MRP/ERP systems)
- Understanding of ISO9001
*Working knowledge in hand calculations, knowledge of design codes including, EC Directives and CE Marking, API 6A, ASME VIII Boiler and Pressure Vessels, ASME B31.3, NACE MR-0175, ATEX, Norsok, EN12079/DNV2.7-12.7.3
*Understand welding processes and procedures
