Finance Business Partner

**About the opportunity**

This will be a permanent role reporting into the Strategy and Transformation Finance Controller and supporting the Strategy & Transformation team on key areas of growth. Linking into wider core business functions to support, challenge and aid delivery of growth streams. We’ll look for you to identify key risks and opportunities, working with different business areas to ensure performance targets are met and objectives achieved.

This is a broad role where you will work alongside Directors, Senior Managers, and budget holders to provide information, analysis, insight and support areas across the business. This will include varying focus across, commercial, retail, digital, property, store development, supply chain and wider finance functions.

This is a true business partnering role where you will embed yourself within the function supporting leaders and decision makers of the respective area, offering financial guidance, challenge, routine and objective opinion when assessing growth opportunities.

**Reporting, Analysis and Provision of High-Quality Insight**
- Help drive a consistent and challenging weekly, monthly and quarterly performance review process, utilising key financial and non-financial metrics and an understanding of how these factors align to performance
- Understand the key metrics the business uses and, alongside operational colleagues, review whether they are still appropriate, fit for purpose and aligned to driving performance
- Develop the teams to be more self-sufficient when it comes to analysis and insight, again ensuring consistency across the function
- Automating ongoing reporting to enable more time spent to be spent on analysing
- Ability to deliver ad-hoc insight whilst understanding the balance between value and effort required for the output

**Continuous process improvements across reporting**
- Streamlining of reporting utilising a systematic approach
- Drive for consistency across reporting and performance reviews within wider operational teams and finance function
- Review the current annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes with the Finance Controller and, where appropriate, plan and implement improvements
- Drive efficiency and ways of working through actionable insight utilising large and complex datasets

**Building partnerships and maintaining strong relationship to become a key financial lead**
- Embed yourself in the business, becoming a trusted and supportive partner to allow critical challenge and consensus on forward approach across areas with varying internal priorities
- Presentation at senior strategic meetings, ensuring detail remains focused on valuable and actionable insight allowing decisions to be made

**Modelling of strategic investments, performance reporting and PIRs**
- Modelling options, investments and strategic plans to highlight areas of strength and risk, providing this to senior stakeholders enabling decision making
- Ongoing tracking, investment reviews, performance vs expectations and full autopsy into what went well, why and what can be done to improve or remedy. Using this review to rebase expectations and provide recommendations to senior leadership team

**Reporting, budgeting and financial planning for the areas you own**
- Working with relevant stakeholders to ensure a robust budgeting and planning process.
- Supporting the introduction of a lower level P&L by category across all relevant P&L lines utilising insight and enhanced forecasting methods to improve future planning

**What you'll need...**
- Qualified accountant, ideally CIMA or ACCA
- Strategic thinker who can act independently
- Strong communicator with excellent written and verbal skills who can interact well with colleagues at all levels
- Well-developed business partnering skills able to become a trusted partner who can ask and be asked the difficult questions in order to deliver to targets.
- A leader who can motivate and coach others to achieve objectives.
- Drive enthusiasm and tenacity.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong ability of how to take indefinite data questions and translate them in to reporting, insight and outputs in a seamless and efficient way
- PowerQuery, Power Pivot and Power BI preferred but not essential.
- Experience in a multi-site environment essential, Retail sector is preferable
- An effective planner and implementer - able to make things happen.
- Proven success in working in a Finance Business Partner role
