Perinatal Psychologist/ Preceptorship

We are looking for an enthusiastic, reflective and experienced Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to work with pregnant and postnatal women who have complex mental health needs. The countywide multidisciplinary team provide specialist care for women with moderate to severe mental illness during their pregnancy, and up to the age of 12 months. For newly qualifieds, we have a preceptorship process in place.
The post holder will be part of a dedicated team and will support the delivery of high quality individual and group psychological interventions to women and their babies. They will also contribute to the provision of reflective spaces for the multi-disciplinary team to enhance patient care and staff wellbeing.
The team has recently undergone a review and are restructuring some of their processes. They are actively working to develop their treatment pathways and have good links with local IAPT services and parent-infant psychotherapy in CAMHS. We are looking to recruit someone who has experience of working within secondary mental health settings, working collaboratively with other professionals within a biopsychosocial model, and can demonstrate compassion and sensitivity to the challenges facing women with mental health difficulties during the perinatal period. An understanding of the impact of trauma in the perinatal period, and experience delivering trauma-focused therapy, is desirable. A car owner/driver is essential.
The post holder is responsible for the provision of highly specialist, co produced, psychological input to secondary mental health services and those in the community, particularly those vulnerable to poor health outcomes through poverty and other social inequalities, disabilities and physical health conditions and will also manage other psychological therapists.
