An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and skilled community Band 6 Clinical Specialist to work in our rapidly expanding Perinatal Mental Health Team. The North London Partners Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Service is a community mental health service for pregnant and postnatal women with severe and complex mental illness. The aim of the team is to detect, prevent and treat perinatal mental health problems to improve the experience of pregnancy and the first year postpartum for women and their families.
Camden & Islington Mental Health Foundation Trust jointly with Barnet, Enfield & Haringey Mental Health Trust secured investment to develop perinatal mental health services across five boroughs in the North Central London area. The service has been running since 2017 and provides specialist perinatal mental health services across the boroughs of Camden, Islington, Barnet, Enfield and Haringey.
This post is based in the East Sub team which covers women and families living in Enfield and Haringey.
The post holder will be responsible for carrying out ahigh number of specialist new patient assessments each week.Formulate, implement and review plans for the treatment and management of women with a full range of clinical presenting problems and thoroughly assess risk, using safe, evidence based, effective, timely and culturally competent care, documenting and communicating these clearly and concisely. You will also be expected to hold a complex caseload. Supervision will be provided by a Band 7 Clinical Lead Specialist. The North London Partners Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Service runs clinics at maternity sites, children’s centres and community centres across the boroughs as well as conducting home visits.
You will join an established clinical MDT including Consultant Psychiatrists, Clinical Lead Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Nurses, Clinical Psychologists, Social Worker, Family Therapist, Nursery Nurses, Peer Support Workers and Pharmacist.
A wide range of previous experience of working within hospital and community settings is essential. Experience of working in perinatal mental health services is desirable but not essential.
Use of a car is also desirable but not essential.

Clinical
1. To undertake specialist initial clinical assessment and formulation using a range of both specialist and generic tools
2. Making an autonomous judgement about own caseload
3. To assess, plan, implement and evaluate care in negotiation with service users, carers and other services, considering the needs of a diverse community
4. Intervening using a range of therapeutic modalities e.g. CBT, Systemic Family Therapy etc.
5. Assisting in and determining the point of discharge / transfer of the service user.
6. To communicate clinical assessment or presentation to others within the team and appropriate external agencies including GPs.
7. To maintain contemporaneous records to the standard required by the trust and the relevant professional body.
8. To assess and manage risk.
9. Encouraging service users to accept an optimum level of responsibility for their programme of care and with their consent, where appropriate, seek the cooperation of friends / relatives / carers.
