*Position Overview:*

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our team at a vibrant small deli. The Kitchen Assistant will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our deli by assisting with food preparation, cooking, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen.

*Responsibilities:*
- Assist with food preparation, including chopping, slicing, and portioning ingredients for various dishes on our colorful menu.
- Assist the chef in cooking and assembling menu items, ensuring high standards of taste, presentation, and consistency.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment by washing dishes, utensils, and equipment promptly and thoroughly.
- Keep workstations and kitchen surfaces sanitized and tidy, adhering to health and safety guidelines.
- Monitor and restock ingredients and supplies as needed to ensure a seamless workflow during busy periods.
- Support the kitchen team in adhering to food safety regulations and guidelines to maintain the highest standards of hygiene.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient communication and teamwork.
- Assist in inventory management and ordering supplies to prevent shortages.
- Follow instructions from the chef and kitchen manager to maintain the quality and integrity of the deli's offerings.

*Qualifications:*
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment, such as a deli, café, or restaurant, is preferred.
- Basic understanding of food handling and safety practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and stay composed under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- Effective communication skills to work harmoniously with the kitchen team.
- Enthusiasm for food and a willingness to learn and adapt to new recipes and techniques.
- Flexibility to work different shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required.

*Physical Requirements:*
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy pots and equipment.
- Comfortable working in a hot and fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Capable of bending, stooping, and reaching to access various parts of the kitchen.
