We are seeking a Global Process Safety Lead - Risk & Consequence within our Global Process Safety team at Air Products The Global Process Safety team provides direction and support to the regional businesses. This position location may in the United States (Allentown-PA, Houston, TX, or Louisiana), Shanghai, China, The Hague, Netherlands, or Hersham-UK, with approximately 10% travel globally.
This role serves as the global senior expert in process safety risk and consequence assessment, focused on developing and implementing best-in-class methods and tools to quantify process safety risks and assess mitigations, as well as providing senior-level independent review of high-risk projects with potential major business implications.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Owner of the technical content of the company PSAM (Process Safety Analysis Methods). PSAM are the formal documents that provide the methods to be used by all process safety engineers across the company. Ensure they reflect industry best practices, effective training is available, and technical issues addressed.
- Owner of the process safety software tools used by the company to assess risks and consequences. Air Products uses a mix of industry standard software and internally developed software tools.
- Conduct timely, independent review of high-risk assets (existing and new projects) to ensure accurate risk quantification and effective mitigation strategies. Provide risk management recommendations to executive management.
- Collaborate with other industry experts through involvement in industry associations and research consortia, to establish best in class approaches for company tools and methods. Identify where gaps exist, and drive development of common solutions.
**Key Deliverables**:
- Up-to-date, robust, accurate and user-friendly PSAMs.
- Internal and external reliable process safety tools with training and technical support.
- Accurate senior reviews of high-risk assessments and actionable risk reduction strategies.
**Required Skills and Experience**:
- Proven technical leadership in process safety methods and tools.
- Innovative problem-solving for complex safety challenges.
- Strategic influence across teams, driving safety improvements in design and operations.
- Effective engagement with industry experts and safety committees to advance standard methodologies.
- Strong teacher and mentor, with a history of driving safety excellence.
**Requirements**:
- Engineering or science degree or equivalent work experience
- 20+ years of engineering experience, primarily in process safety
- Proven expertise in process safety hazard consequence fundamentals and risk assessment techniques.
- Recognized industry leadership in process safety.
- Strong mentoring and technical consulting skills supporting process safety engineering teams.
