The main purpose of the role is to provide proportionate case disposal decisions in line with Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Guidance and act as a ‘gateway’ for Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) charging advice, and quality assure all prosecution file types, providing written and oral feedback, guidance and one to one support to officers. Responsibilities will also include keeping up to date with legislative changes whether by statute, case law, Home Office circulars, DPP’s guidance, codes of practice and force/CPS policies and procedures. As part of a wider team, you will monitor the timely submission of prosecution files and be expected to organise and prioritise your joint workload to meet set timescales with minimum supervision.

You will need to demonstrate experience of problem solving and sound decision making, together with strong interpersonal, written and oral skills, including negotiation and influencing. Significant relevant experience and proven skills in the investigation of crime or prosecution of offenders is essential as well as a good understanding of criminal law, legislation, policies and guidance relevant to the role. Knowledge and/or experience of the wider Criminal Justice and English Legal System is desirable.

Strong MS Office IT skills including Word, Excel and Outlook are essential, as well as a good understanding of UNIFI and other Police systems and databases.

Some working weekends will be required on a rota basis and some 7am starts required to process overnight remand files on a rotational basis.

This role will attract a 1.25% shift allowance.

**Salary**: £28,530.00-£30,375.00 per year
