**Job Purpose**:
Equities In-Business Risk and Controls team is primarily focused on strengthening the governance, supervisory and control framework in the region. This role will report to the Head of EMEA Risk & Controls and work with the wider Global team to continue to develop the governance, control & supervision framework across Equities, working closely with the Business Heads, Desk Supervisors and Business Management teams to deliver and support both business specific and Markets-wide regulatory and control related initiatives.

This role requires extensive liaison with multiple functions within the business and support functions at all levels, including Markets Central Risk & Controls teams, Technology, Audit, Compliance, Risk, Finance, Operations, Middle Office as well as other Markets Businesses both in the region and globally.

**Job Background/context**:
An effective governance, supervision and control framework for Non-Financial Risk is critical to the continuing existence and success of the Global Equities business. This arena has undergone a period of significant and rapid change in response to increased global regulatory scrutiny and expectations for Operational and Compliance Risks. To ensure a strong & consistent global control environment, Equities have an in-business Risk and Controls team who are responsible for developing and operating a fit for purpose Non-Financial Risk Framework.

The role will report into the Head of EMEA Non-Financial Risk and Controls within Equities.

In addition, the role will work closely with the cross-Markets Non-Financial Risk and Control teams, Independent Risk Management, Internal Audit and local Regulators.

**Key Responsibilities**:
Partner with the global team to oversee the Management Control Assessments (MCA) for Equities, focusing on key conduct, operational and emerging risks. Leverage results to identify control deficiencies and remediation

Support the evaluation of Key operational Risks and non-financial risk appetite framework. Help define glide path for out of appetite material risks

Partner with ICRM for Regulatory Inventory Mapping [RIM] related enhancements projects to align regulations to associated assessment units

Support EMEA Risk and Control MI, Governance, reporting and escalations

Work with the Business Heads and Business Unit Management to deliver new control initiatives

Partner with Compliance to develop and enhance content of applicable policies and training

Assist UK Equities to embed an effective governance structure for oversight of activities that impact UK legal entities while maintaining documentation of Senior Manager responsibilities in compliance with SMCR

Drive the control framework evolution, and devise and deliver solutions to sufficiently mitigate existing and new emerging risks

Manage EMEA related risk issues, event management and lessons learned including internal / external loss reviews and oversee related remediation as necessary

Interact with the Markets Central Risk & Control teams (aka Risk Stripes), Compliance, Internal Audit and other control functions to drive forward control enhancement initiatives and investigate control failures

Facilitate and as required participate in ad-hoc reviews and regulatory / supervisory examinations of the wider business

**Development Value**:
Develop a detailed understanding of the Equities businesses, products and processes and how it operates within a large organization, which spans across more than 25 countries

Build a deep understanding of the evolving regulatory landscape and how it impacts the business

Establish forward looking trigger events and horizon scanning activities to help continue to evolve risk identification and management

Opportunity to develop and expand external network of 1st line of defense professionals with peer organizations through external roundtables

Develop a global network of contacts within Equities, Markets Central Risk & Control teams and other control and infrastructure groups

Exposure to senior management, including but not limited to the EMEA Equities Exco

The role involves exposure & partnership with business and desk heads across Equities and involvement in other global projects

Create strong partnership with functions including middle office, operations, product control and technology to provide end to end visibility of material risks

Build effective prioritization skills as the job entails dealing with multiple conflicting priorities in a time pressure environment

**Knowledge/Experience**:
Subject matter expertise in products, markets, trading systems & controls, preferably in Equities

Solid working knowledge of end-to-end product flows or lifecycle events of Equities, Prime Finance or Futures and Clearing

Expertise in key regulations such as SMCR, MIFID II, EMIR

Risk and Control expertise within first line with strong focus on Risk Management and Supervisory Frameworks

Regulatory remediation experience such as MRA
