The role

My client is looking for an experienced Financial Controller to lead the EMEA accounting operations. You'll own end-to-end reporting and controls, manage a talented team, and drive process and systems transformation—making a real impact in a complex, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a high-performing regional finance team of 20–25, including 7 senior direct reports across EMEA.
  • Inspire, develop, and empower teams spanning consolidations, external reporting, financial accounting, and transformation initiatives.
  • Drive the delivery of accurate, timely consolidated financials under U.S. GAAP, UK GAAP, and IFRS, supporting both internal and external reporting.
  • Champion a strong control culture, ensuring full SOX compliance and adherence to global finance policies.
  • Own the external audit cycle - streamlining processes and ensuring statutory filings are delivered efficiently across multiple entities.
  • Act as a trusted technical accounting advisor on complex areas including revenue recognition, lease accounting, and impairment.
  • Play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing next-generation finance systems and process automation.

Person Requirements

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CPA) with 10+ years of post-qualification experience in complex, fast-paced environments.
  • Deep technical expertise across US GAAP and IFRS, with a strong grounding in financial reporting and consolidation.
  • Proven track record of leading and scaling high-performing finance teams.
  • Experience within a multinational - ideally a US-headquartered, tech-driven organisation.
  • Strong background in statutory reporting, audit management, and financial control design (SOX).
  • Comfortable driving systems and process transformation - hands-on with ERP or finance tech implementations.
  • Exceptional communicator, able to influence and collaborate with senior leaders across finance and non-finance functions.
