**Job Purpose**
The post holder will join the School of Infection and Immunity to develop an internationally competitive independent research programme as lead scientist on multi-modal imaging research as applied to bacteriology, but with a particular focus on antimicrobial resistance.The programme will be relevant to the research portfolio of the School, drawing on the collaborative inputs and team working of other colleagues both within and outside the School.The postholder will disseminate the results of this project through publications in leading scientific journals, participation in national and international collaborations and through interaction with fellow scientists within the School, College, and the University of Glasgow and with clinical colleagues in the National Health Service. The postholder will undertake administrative tasks as allocated by the Head of School and be responsible for the supervision of graduate students and research assistants as appropriate.**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
1. To take the lead in planning, developing and sustaining an internationally leading research programme, making a significant contribution to knowledge in the field of bacteriology which aligns with the strategic mission and research strategy of the School of Infection and Immunity, the College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences, and the University.2. To take a leading role in developing a portfolio of individual and/or joint research projects in the field of multi-modal imaging/AMR and secure the funding required to underpin the long-term growth of this research activity.3. To collaborate with colleagues within the School, University and externally (e.g. NHS) to plan, design and implement research projects.4. To take the lead in developing a high-level output of research publications in leading scientific journals and present research at national and international conferences, enhancing the reputation of the School, College and University.5. To undertake supervision of research students and staff and ensure their effective development.6. To engage in professional development activities as appropriate and in external academic and professional activities to enhance the reputations of the School, the College and the University.7. To contribute to the administrative duties of the Head of School.8. To contribute to the enhancement of the University’s international profile in line with the University’s Strategic Plan, World Changers Together.These key tasks are not intended to be exhaustive but simply highlight a number of major tasks which the staff member may be reasonably expected to perform.**Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience**

**Essential**:C2. Experience of establishing clinical collaborations to advance research outcomesC3. Sufficient breadth and depth of knowledge of bacteriology, AMR and multi-modal imaging, and of research methods and techniques to work on the research topic, as demonstrated through post-doctoral research experience.C4. An established track record of research publications in the field of bacteriology and imaging, including first or senior author in leading scientific journals.
C5. Evidence of growing reputation in this field as appropriate for career stage.C6. Eligible and competitive for early career independent fellowships from major funders (e.g. Wellcome Trust, MRC).- **Desirable**:
