**Job Purpose**

We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Fellow to join the School of Health and Wellbeing within Professor Petra Meier’s Systems Science in Public Health research group.

The postholder will make a leading contribution across a portfolio of existing and planned societal challenges-focused research programmes. This includes the management and direction of complex, interdisciplinary projects, the formulation and submission of research proposals that contribute to the financial sustainability of the group, and dissemination activities including academic publishing. Priorities for the post include to support: (1) the UKRI-funded Policy Modelling for Health consortium, which focuses on the economic determinants of health inequalities, enhancing the utility of policy models and democratising policy modelling, (2) the systems transformation workstream of the NERC-funded GALLANT - Glasgow as a Living Lab Accelerating Novel Transformation, which supports our policy and practice partners when they navigate social, health and planetary priorities; and (3) new research and engagement contributing to strategic University and College initiatives (e.g., the Healthy and Equitable Futures Mission of Glasgow Changing Futures). Future-focused qualitative, quantitative and systems research will be a particular priority.

You will undertake administrative tasks as allocated by the Professor Meier and be responsible for the supervision of graduate students and research assistants as appropriate.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**

1. To take the lead in the management and development of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary projects and to work independently and in collaboration to bring aspects of these projects to successful completion including establishing and maintaining external collaborations both nationally and internationally.

2. To take a leading role the development of the research agenda and in the planning, execution and future direction of the research projects in line with College and University strategies aligned with the Healthy and Equitable Futures priority area within Glasgow Changing Futures.

3. Establish and maintain an extensive research profile and reputation and that of the University of Glasgow/College/School/Research Group and sustain a track record of independent and joint publications of international quality in high profile/quality refereed journals, enhancing the research impact of societal benefit, and gathering indicators of esteem.

4. To take the lead in the presentation of research findings at high profile national and international conference, seminars and meetings to enhance the reputation of the School, College and University.

5. Lead the development, both independently and in collaboration with others (including stakeholders) of the identification of potential funding sources and lead in the development of proposals to secure funding from internal and external bodies to support future research of international quality.
- To take a leading role in developing and maintaining collaborations with colleagues within the School, University and externally to plan, design and implement research projects.
- Play a leading role in the organisation, supervision, mentoring and training of undergraduate and/or postgraduate students and less experienced members of the project team to ensure their effective development.
- To engage in personal, professional and career development activities as appropriate and in external academic and professional activities to enhance the reputations of the School, the College and the University.
- Perform administrative tasks related to the activities of the project and School, as appropriate.
- Keep up to date with current knowledge and recent advances in the field/discipline in order to provide advice and guidance to students and less experienced colleagues.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the line manager and Head of School.
- Contribute to the enhancement of the University’s international profile in line with the University Strategy, World Changing Glasgow 2025
