**Family Safeguarding - Adult Domestic Violence & Abuse Worker**
**Location: Somerset**
**Salary: £26,172pa Full Time - 40 hours per week**
**Contract Type: Permanent**
This is an amazing opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Domestic Abuse Advocate to join our Family Safeguarding Domestic Abuse Team located within Somerset Children’s Services.
**Essential Criteria**:
- Have relevant qualification or equivalent to Diploma/Degree/NVQ 4 or equivalent work level experience
- Have a nationally recognised IDVA qualification, or with transferable work experience and a willingness to complete all YOU DVA training to IDVA level.
- Car driver with willingness to work across the county and to travel beyond occasionally for meetings and training
**YOU** is a registered charity that has been providing care, support and advice for over 30 years to vulnerable people, working across Somerset, Hampshire, Dorset, West Sussex and the Isle of Wight to give them the tools and resources they need to live independent, secure and valued lives.
**About You**
- Will work with adults who are at high risk of homelessness, and often impacted by more than one “hidden harm” factor, namely, mental health, drug and alcohol and domestic abuse.
- Will be responsible for engaging the whole family, to complete needs led assessments, to design and deliver agreed interventions to increase safety and reduce risk, safeguard adults and children and to broker additional support, where indicated.
- Will utilise a range of evidenced based risk management tools including the Domestic Abuse Stalking and Harassment Risk Identification Checklist (DASH RIC) and refer to countywide Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference MARAC as required.
- Provide information, education, and support to families and elicit change through pro-social modelling and strengths-based practice
- The post holder will be confident in their knowledge, and able to represent their assessment and analysis of the domestic abuse within multi-agency forums and multi-disciplinary teams, whilst also being responsible for raising awareness of and supporting others to understand the dynamics of domestic abuse and its impact on individuals and their children.
- Will provide 1:1 support for people who harm others will be cognisant of the requirements of further specialist interventions where a whole family approach may increase risk, this will include areas such as persistent and prolific abuse and coercive and controlling behaviour that will impact on the positive achievements for that family

**The Family Safeguarding Service**
This service is working in partnership with Somerset County Council’s Children’s services. Children’s Services have led on the development of a new approach to working with families through the Family Safeguarding Model. The model creates Family Safeguarding Teams who are multi-disciplinary and include professionals with specialisms in social work, domestic abuse, mental health and substance misuse who provide high quality support to families with complex needs as part of the Family Safeguarding approach.
