Lab Technician

**Lab Technician -Abbot House, Westgate St, BSE, IP33 1QT**

We are recruiting for a Laboratory Technician to ensure quality control at all stages of beer production. This is a full time role working Monday to Friday between the hours of 06:00 - 18:00. 39.5 hours average per week. You will also be required to coversome weekends and bank holidays on a rotational basis.

**Key Responsibilities...**
- Sample and analyse for physical & chemical and for microbiological parameters
in line with agreed schedule and on an ad hoc basis
- Record and report results in a timely and appropriate manner
- Conduct quality surveys or projects as required
- Work in a safe and efficient manner using ppe provided, report all H & S issues
- Actively promote a high level of adherence to quality specifications
- Keep department clean and tidy
- To carry out departmental housekeeping, hygiene and environmental audits
- Assist with training of operators in some techniques and analyses
- Ensure all instruments used are calibrated and fit for purpose
- Carry out routine calibration checks on laboratory instruments
- Participate in in-house instrument/technician validation procedures
- Participate in external proficiency schemes
- Ensure compliance with internal and external quality standards
- Ensure efficient qc cover by adherence to shift, weekend and bank holiday rotas
and complying with department and company rules for annual holiday
- Assist laboratory supervisor and qc manager with non-routine tasks as required
- Maintain supply of clean laboratory equipment and microbiological media
- Manage sample cellar and sample stores to required standard
- Prepare, set up and assist with tasting sessions and sensory training
- Represent company and department at external or internal meetings as appropriate

**About you...**
- Hold a science based qualification (ideally degree or equivalent)
- Previous lab experience would be advantageous
- High attention to detail
- Great communication skills
- Desire and ability to work as part of a team
