YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WHAT YOULL DO The post will provide an excellent introduction to specialised cancer care with experience in site-specific and inpatient clinical oncology including radiotherapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and other systemic therapies. On-call duties will be determined based on the experience of the successful applicant. The Trust is one of the most research active acute trusts in the UK, and a major research centre for the University of Southampton, hosting a Cancer Research UK Centre and an Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre. There will be opportunities to develop your CV.
WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR Previous Cancer Care Fellows have presented posters at international conferences, completed significant Quality Improvement and audit projects and we have an excellent track-record of our Cancer Care Fellows progressing to attain training posts. We will assign you an educational supervisor and set clear learning objectives for your time with us. Most of your time will be spent caring for inpatients and patients on the day unit, and you will have opportunities to attend clinics or radiotherapy planning, and teaching sessions. You will be able to take part in the on-call rota at a level appropriate for your clinical experience and training.
Grades for Trust appointed (non-training) fellows will be paid a basic salary at a nodal pay point linked to the grade, at the rate set out in the National Medical and Dental pay circular. Basic salary detailed below plus any additional remuneration (as applicable) for hours set out in the doctors work schedule (e.g. additional hours, weekend allowance, and any hours which attract enhanced pay) Basic Salary - MT04 £55,329 Basic Salary MT05 £63,152 Salary will be assessed based on experience and skills. Eligibility criteria for appointment to a Nodal Point 5; Have a minimum of 6 years of Specialty training Hold relevant higher specialty exam (e.g FRCP, FRCA, FRCS) A portfolio of evidence that demonstrates they meet the criteria for progression (in line with the Curriculum for the speciality similar to deanery trainee) Travelling expenses will not be paid for attending interview Please note that GMC registration (with a licence to practice) and right to work in the UK are essential for this role.
