To be considered for this opportunity you will need to be a registered member of BACP or UKCP and at minimum hold a Level 5 Diploma counselling with children and young people (or equivalent) with at least two years post-qualifying experience.
JOB TITLE: Counsellor/Psychotherapist
LOCATION: Kingsley, Hampshire
REPORTING TO: Head of School
**PURPOSE OF THE ROLE**:
To support pupils therapeutically at the Green Room Foundation, helping them to access the curriculum and enable positive change within their own lives, at school and beyond.
**MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:
To provide therapy to young people with Special Educational Needs focussing on a wide range of emotional difficulties. We are open-minded with regard to therapeutic modality. Art therapists, drama therapists, equine therapists, systemic family therapists may be particularly well suited to this position. Interventions may support pupils as well as their families and may work on a group basis or one-to-one.
To work with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and wider staff to identify pupils that need support.
Create a plan for the nature and duration of the support provided and maintain discussions with SLT about the need for extensions on this.
Contribute to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare and personal care of students.
To liaise with the Designated Safeguarding Lead on a frequent basis.
Keep records of the work completed and track the progress of the therapeutic support. Feed this information back to SLT and or Head of School periodically.
Making referrals to other professionals if required, building and maintaining working relationships at an operational level with relevant statutory and non-statutory agencies to improve an integrated mental health service to pupils.
Liaise with parents on issues related to therapy and wellbeing and advise on agency involvement.
Keeping up to date with administration: making phone calls; writing reports and case notes; and drafting letters to other professionals.
Work collaboratively with the other Green Room Foundation therapeutic team. Attend meetings and case conferences to share ideas, expertise and good practice upon request.
Attend individual and group supervision in accordance with the professional body. Subscribe to the code of ethics of their own professional body.
Keeping up to date and being responsible for your continuing professional development (CPD) by attending seminars, lectures, and workshops. To have a thorough knowledge of the Mental Health provision locally and nationally.
To continually review and evaluate the service being able to adapt to developmental changes in the organisation if required.
To take part in the wide range of events, trips and activities on offer throughout the year to support the pupils.
To promote the aims of our organisation, and reinforce our ethos. Central is that pupils feel school is a place of safety where they can grow and thrive. Our first and foremost value is kindness.

**KEY CRITERIA**:
This position requires a warm, non-judgemental, and empathetic person with excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with colleagues, visitors, pupils and parents whilst having clear and precise written and verbal communication skills.
In addition, we require a calm and professional person who can work quickly and precisely, can multi-task and organise their work despite interruptions to deliver to deadlines.
It is a busy and varied role which suits a person who can rapidly re-prioritise depending on the circumstances at the time, and consequently has excellent attention to detail.
Good literacy and numeracy skills are essential, with knowledge of Google technology, and Arbor is an advantage. Experience of working with Health and Safety standards is an advantage.
