**Job description**:
As Chief Digital Information Officer you will be responsible for establishing and executing the VCA’s digital and technology vision and strategy, ensuring its alignment to the wider business strategy.
You will have the opportunity to make a real change and contribute to the overall business strategy development; utilising your current knowledge, future vision of digital techniques and ways of working to support business transformation activities.
You will regularly engage with the executive team and various stakeholders, such as the other government departments, agencies, and the technology sector, to identify and source innovative technologies that will improve VCA business performance. Therefore, it is vital that you have excellent communication skills and the ability to develop trusted stakeholder relationships.
You will be responsible for leading a digital team, consisting of approximately 20 personnel, in addition to the supporting contracted services (approximately £500k per annum) that deliver services, technologies and governance.
**Person specification**:
**Your key responsibilities will include**:
- setting the mission, vision and strategic direction of the digital and IT organisation, with a clear delivery roadmap, operating model and business prioritisation for the development of the VCA’s digital and data capabilities
- acting as lead authority for all digital, data and technology matters within the organisation
- developing and implementing a strategy to ensure that the VCA is at the forefront of adopting digital, data and technology to best support the automotive industry
- acting as a trusted advisor, build and maintain relationships with other VCA business leaders to develop a clear understanding of business needs; ensure cost effective delivery of digital services to meet those needs, and ability to respond with agility to changing business priorities.
- leading on VCA’s cyber defence strategy to identify and mitigate against cyber risk
- Review and approve all digital investments, managing the digital portfolio to create long term value, drive insight and to ensure alignment with strategy, architectures and standards.
**About you**
You will be a high-quality individual who has a track record of delivery and is comfortable with operating at pace.
You will be a leader with experience of successfully operating at a similar level or with similar experiences, and a track record of delivering transformation and change.
You will have a background in strategic planning, development of clear and deliverable vision and the ability to translate strategic priorities into clear outcome-focused objectives and drive forward implementation at pace.
You will be able to utilise your experience in delivering improvements to IT assurance and cyber security to embed good practice into business as usual operations.
You will be comfortable communicating with internal/external senior stakeholders and are confident when conveying complex ideas in a clear, concise manner.
