**SEND Tribunal Officer** - **12 Month Fixed Term Contract or a Secondment Opportunity for LBE staff**
Ealing Council are recruiting a **SEND Tribunal Officer** for a fixed term 12 months position starting as soon as possible.
As the SEND Tribunal Officer, you will work closely with Ealing Legal Services, reporting to the Disagreement Resolution and Tribunal Manager.
You will be responsible for Coordinating the appeals process and preparing paperwork and witnesses in relation to appeals, working with appellants and professionals to seek to negotiate settlements to cases. You will also present the LA’s case at SENDIST (Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal).
The main areas of responsibility will be:
- Coordinate and collate information to support the LA where there is a dispute about special educational needs support arrangements.
- To prepare cases for tribunal, liaising with legal services, managers, case workers, schools, colleges and services.
- To ensure all documentation linked to SEND appeals is managed effectively in a timely manner and timelines and quality standards are met.
- Take responsibility for ensuring that the ICT systems information is accurate and up to date at all times.
- Representing the Local Authority at Tribunal hearings.
- Commission independent professional advice that may be required to both assess the strength of, and support, LA decisions that are being challenged.

You will also be expected to play a central role in developing and improving the implementation of the current Reforms elements of the Children and Families Act
You will be working within an experienced and supportive team and have many opportunities to extend your skills and experience as well as opportunities for progression. Continuous professional development is actively encouraged.
We are based in offices near the centre of Ealing Broadway within minutes of bus, tube and train connections at Ealing Broadway station.
This role is deemed customer facing and as such you must have a command of spoken English which is sufficient to enable you to effectively perform the role. This requirement relates to Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016.
