Plunge is a creative, busy and diverse company. We have a multitude of different projects on the go at any one time. Our teams work across several buildings on one site which means there can be lots of moving between the different workspaces, particularly when it's busy.

Plunge’s designer must be well-versed in engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes. They will collaborate closely with the team as well as engineers to ensure that the design is structurally sound, adheres to industry standards, and can be produced efficiently. This involves selecting the right materials, specifying tolerances, and understanding the mechanics of the end product.

Plunge’s designer will work alongside the projects team to help with their quoting, planning and overseeing of projects through the workshop.

Because of this, Plunge’s designer needs to be good communicator, very organised and used to juggling mutilple design jobs as once. They need to be able to stay level-headed and friendly during stressful times. They need to have an eye for detail and a creative bent.

**Experience Required**:
Must have a minimum of 3 years experience Solid 3D modelling and technical draughting.

**General job description**:Typical responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
Collectively work from client brief to create design proposals to meet brief and budget parameters.

Create client presentation drawings for approval, (simplified general assembly dwgs), overall dimensions, materials and finishes in PDF format.

Where necessary create any short animations to explain and support design proposal to client. (Not often)

Record any changes made by client prior to fabrication. Reissue updated drawings as required for approval. Manage all revisions and ensure drawing / job folder up to date throughout job.

Create workshop drawings. These are general assembly drawings including overall dimensions, basic construction, fixings/tolerances, materials, finishes. This also includes a Bill of Materials to fit with budget (Liaise with project manager).

Create supplementary explanatory drawings where appropriate. Explain assembly (exploded views) and breakdown as well as re-assembly for packing or transportation where necessary. Create space planning schematics to minimise empty space in transit.

Create any 3D print files, manage and oversee 3D print production.

Edit any client graphic assets where needed. Create and prepare any 2D Graphic elements (in Ai Format) for print production with any incorporated cut lines.

Create and prepare any CNC files (in various formats) for laser cutting or CNC for different materials. All CNC files to be accompanied by a PDF file showing quantities and dimensions.

Responsible for all outsourced elements to be fit correctly with all in house elements.

Create relevant assembly drawings, and liaise with project manager and production manager to ensure accuracy.

Liaise with project manager at all stages of job production for changes / design solutions and general progress. Support the projects team in keeping jobs in budget and on time.

Awareness of all issued drawings on workshop floor at any given time. Oversee how drawings are used and updated during production. Ensure makers are aware of any changes during the make are to be hand noted to any drawings they are using.

Liaise with production manager and projects team that all appropriate drawings are issued to makers in good time and in constructive order according to the timeline of production.

Recalling all drawings (clipboards) and updating files accordingly. Oversee file management to keep all old versions archived. Ensure a clear and up to date record of fabricated items sent out. (In case of future partial or full re run of the job)

Ensure job folder 'Drawings' is in order and up to date prior to closing file down.

Create concept designs & client presentation hand sketched proposals.

R&D maquette making to prove design concept.

Create and manage files for any vinyl cut elements.

Constantly monitor and simplify the 'Drawing' file architecture for managing any client revisions and minimise potential for wrong information being issued.

DTP : Produce any promotional material as requested for Plunge via print or online

Awareness of material standard properties and sizes. Including metal, glass, timber, plastics. Continually research new material properties relevant to projects.

Attending production meetings and other meetings as required.

To work with the management team to ensure the efficient running of the workshop.

To work in accordance with health and safety guidance.

To undertake any other reasonable duties as required by your line manager or senior management
