This is a Senior Eating Disorder Practitioner role in the new Type 1 Diabetes & Disordered Eating (T1DE) Service. Based on very positive research & outcomes from pilot schemes in London & Wessex, this service aims to provide comprehensive & compassionate care for a complex & often under-served patient group. We are looking for a dynamic individual, who possesses a passion for service development & the provision of high quality clinical care. The team aims to: Provide education & raise awareness of disordered eating Ensure that access to appropriate psychological support is available for people Provide professional support & advice to primary care & specialist diabetes services caring for people with type 1 diabetes & disordered eating Assess & treat people most severely affected by type 1 diabetes % disordered eating who have the highest risk of a poor outcome (e.g. recurrent DKA, recurrent severe hypoglycaemia or persistent HbA1c >86 mmol/mol) via a specialist MDT clinic Support inpatient teams (both mental health & medical beds) caring for patients with T1DE This post has lots of variety with a strong focus on research, service development, clinical delivery as well as the team manager aspect of the role. - You will be a key member of staff in the Type one Diabetes and Eating Disorders Service which covers the whole of Cheshire and Merseyside area - As a senior member of the team, the post holder will provide and ensure the systematic provision of a highly specialised psychological service to people with eating disorders - The post holder will supervise and support the assessment and treatment provided by eating disorder practitioners and other clinical members of the Eating Disorder Team - The post holder will be expected to work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the Service CWP provides health and care services for local people, including mental health, learning disability, community physical health and all-age disability care - including the provision of three GP surgeries. A small annual fee of £13 per year applies. New entrants to the NHS will commence on the minimum of the scale stated above.
