We have a fabulous job opportunity for you to join our awesome team as a Housing Concierge. You’ll support our customers living in our amazing supported housing service in Byker, Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Home Group is committed to reducing the impact of homelessness and social isolation through its provision of care and support accommodation. We work to empower customers and ensure that they have respect, dignity, independence, choice, and control over their own lives.

Our customers are adult females who are referred to our service by the Housing Advice Centre in Newcastle. We work in partnership with the city council and other specialist housing providers working towards reducing Newcastle's street homelessness to zero.

Most, if not all our customers come to us with challenging and complex backgrounds that might include alcohol and substance misuse, poverty, be from offending backgrounds, have trauma related experiences and have mental health that is extremely poor. It is important to us to make sure that everyone who walks through the door to their room or flat feels immediately safe, secure and comfortable in their new surroundings.

As our Housing Concierge you’ll play a really important role in supporting the smooth running of our service. You’ll make sure that our buildings and customers are safe and secure, and that we get on with our neighbours Safeguarding our customers is paramount.

Your responsibilities will include monitoring CCTV, taking phone calls and directing them to our support or management team, regularly liaising with police and supporting them in their queries/investigations as well as other emergency services, patrolling the accommodation and surrounding areas.

As our Supported Housing Concierge, you’ll also be the first point of contact for our customers during the night and at times we’ll also need you to do some general cleaning duties too.

**Working hours**

We provide 24-hour support to our customers each and every day. In this job you’ll work during the twilight hours doing waking nights. You’ll work on a rota basis. You’ll generally be working an average of 2 shifts every 8 days, which will usually be back to back.

As our Housing Concierge, you’ll be lone working during the night. The shift pattern has a start time of 8.15pm though until 7.20am the following day. You’ll always have access to our superbly reliable and experienced Out of Hours Team who are always on hand for help, guidance and advice. They will also come to support you on site if ever required. So, you are never alone really

We need you to be flexible to meet the needs of our customers, but we aim to give you the time you need to spend time doing the things that matter to you

To keep our records straight, and customers safe, it's really important that you are technologically savvy (or at the very least not a technophobe)
- When you start your job, you’ll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you don’t have a transferrable one._

Although you’ll work nights, we do get together regularly in the daytime for training and team meetings. You’ll be part of our wider team who are super passionate about supporting customers to reach their goals and celebrating their achievements. To us we’re not just a team we’re a ‘work family’.

Our manager is Fintan who has been working for Home Group for over 25 years, so is perfectly placed to support you as you join. There are 20 of us in the team and we don’t just love to support our customers, we’re there for each other too

Our other manager is Tracy who has worked at Cedar House since 2007, Tracy was a support worker, then support coordinator and is now CSM.
