**The Opportunity**
In the role of SEND Resolutions Officer, here’s an example of what you’ll be doing to make an impact:
Working closely with families of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities is a central feature of this role. On a day to day basis you will be working with families and young people through a range of forums (mediation, resolution meetings, for example) to address their concerns at the earliest opportunity, and to mediate and negotiate positive outcomes.
You will have extensive experience of working with high levels of compliance/regulatory codes as well as having the skills and experience to successfully manage conflict and disputes and be able to negotiate resolutions, seeing the opportunities in the challenges identified through appeals and complaints to change process and improve customer experience in order to deliver better outcomes for our children and young people.
You will be managing appeals against Education, Health and Care Assessment and Plan decisions. You will represent the council in tribunals and mediations to ensure that a successful resolution is found that delivers the best outcomes for both he child or young person, and the council.
You will be the point of contact for any complaints to the service, ensuring speedy resolution and effective learning to help the service to improve.

**About You**
To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have...

excellent knowledge of the Children and Families Act and SEND Code of Practice and experience in writing, maintaining and reviewing Education, health and Care (EHC) plans.
You will be a problem solver with the ability to find creative solutions to find appropriate solutions for children and young people with Education, Health and Care Plans where, to date, it has not been possible to reach an agreement on the right way forward.
