**Post Title**:Operations Assistant**

The **Operations Assistant** role is an integral part of the Company’s Operations function, providing first line management assistance to our team of drivers and depot support staff. This role is based out of our Chorley site (PR6)

You will have a key part to play in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of all operational aspects of the business; working closely with the wider operations team as well as our engineering, sales, HR and finance departments to ensure that all driving staff work safely and legally at all times.

**KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

As Operations Assistant, you will role-model good practice across the driving teams;
supporting the delivery of the high standards of presentation and customer service synonymous with the Tyrers name for over 50 years.

As a first point of contact for much of the driving team, you will demonstrate a determined, yet friendly approach with the flexibility to work in a busy department faced with competing demands.

**As Operations Assistant you will**:

- Assist with scheduling and allocating driver duties in accordance with driver’s hours regulations and Working Time Directive
- Ensure drivers have the necessary tools and information available to perform their duties effectively
- Deal with day-to-day operational issues within the business including driver absence, changes to jobs, vehicle failures and driver training, etc.
- Manage staff attendance and holidays via MyHRToolkit and Coach Manager systems and responsibilities.
- Liaise with clients and customers regarding private hires and contracts as required
- Ensure drivers work in accordance with company/industry guidelines and relevant accredited training courses appropriate to role and legislation obtain Operator Certificate
- Provide assistance with driver or customer queries in person, over the phone and via of Professional Competence
- Ensure vehicle allocations remain compliant with various contract specifications
- Liaise with drivers and depot support staff (eg. Yard Manager) to ensure vehicles are always “ready to go”- fuelled, cleaned and washed for the next user be provided in-house
- Respond to complaints and support investigations into alleged conduct/capability incidents
- Drive company vehicles when called upon to support essential operations
- Ensure ticketing compliance on relevant services & arrange repair of faulty Ticketer equipment.
- Take part in the management on-call rota - covering approx. 6 weekend per year

**PERSON SPECIFICATION**

**_EXPERIENCE_**
Essential
- Experience of corresponding and communicating with a diverse range of people from different backgrounds
- Experience of prioritising workload to meet competing deadlines and providing the highest level of customer service
- Experience of briefing others/effectively delivering concise instructions
- Must have a valid UK driving licence (car) and access to own vehicle

Desirable
- Minimum 1 year experience in a supervisory or managerial role
- Experience of working in a fast-paced customer service role
- Experience in creating and allocating employee rosters/schedules
- **KNOWLEDGE**_
Essential
- A professional and responsive approach to customers both internally and externally
- A good understanding of the current Highway Code
- Sound geographical knowledge of the UK, particularly North West

Desirable
- Working knowledge of European driver’s hours regulations and Working Time Directive applicable to professional drivers

Tyrers Coaches works predominantly with schools and higher education facilities and as such requires all employees to undergo an Enhanced DBS and Children’s Barred List check to confirm eligibility to work with children.
